Location: Remote and Onsite w/recurring Travel to VA locations across the country to start on the NE/Mid-Atlantic regions

Duration: 48+ months

Clearance: US Citizens, pass Public Trust type background check/drug screening/fingerprints, COVID vaccinated, and willing to be Tuberculosis (TB) Tested.

Campus Network Engineers will travel to a site for up to three weeks per month with four installation sites per month. They will provide remote FT support during the time he/she is not on travel.

Responsibilities

Campus Network Engineers (CNEs) are mid-level engineers and functional and systems experts, with a minimum of five years' experience including functional and technical experience with implementing and replacing access switches to include operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting in a large campus network environment.

CNEs Shall Perform The Services On-site Which Requires a Security Background Check And Orientation Training For Any CNE Performing Such Services. The CNE Will Have Access To Network Environment Through On-site And VPN Services And Gov-issued Equipment Which Requires The Successful, Timely Completion Of Onboarding. The Contractor Utilizing a CNE Shall Perform Installations To Include But Not Limited To Configuration Creation, Equipment Configuration, Physical Installation, And Assistance With Operation And Maintenance Of Installed Equipment. The Contractor Shall Perform The Below At Each Site As Applicable

Prepare equipment configurations and validate configurations for new installations, changes within the network and software upgrades for Campus Switches.
Support the network environment to include assessing the health of the hardware and software infrastructure for Campus Switches during the installation of the equipment.
Complete network related testing to ensure installation follows established guidelines and capabilities for Campus Switches.
Assist in the creation of implementation, integration & migration plans and provide operational support for Campus Switches during installation of equipment.
Troubleshoot network issues during the installation of the equipment.
Provide ongoing and informal transfer of knowledge for Campus Switches.
Open OEM TAC cases on behalf of the VA in the event of a software/configuration issue or hardware failure.
Provide Ad-hoc written summary reports on equipment and network problems to the RE and VA Engineering staff.
Provide technical input to major service outage root cause analysis and corrective action reports.
Follow equipment installation procedures and test plans and document results to be shared with VA Networking staff and the RE.
Act as a configuration expert on the proposed campus equipment.
Shall have the ability to understand and create network diagrams.
Follow established operation and support procedures.
Respond to and resolve technical issues via MS Teams support channel during installation of equipment.
Provide input for and follow implementation plans for equipment migrations.
Follow scripted migration procedures for installations.
Provide input for Go/No-Go criteria for equipment installations.
Use miscellaneous scripting support using OEM solutions.
Be a SME in the Configuration and Implementation of systems for Campus Switches integration to any other functional areas (examples: IPAM, LiveAction, ISE, Palo Alto, Server/Core Switches).
Assist in the testing and development of automation tools to enhance the network operational environment at the VA.
