Job Purpose:

Ensure the safe and cost-efficient operations of shipping cargo while supervising all cargo-related and commercial matters.
This includes providing support to Chartering with pre-fixture clearances, optimizing stowage in collaboration with Masters/Ship Operators to maximize cargo intake based on local restrictions, as well as optimizing vessel tank cleaning and port turnaround.
Additionally, the role involves occasional assistance to the Master during tank inspections and Wall Wash Tests, coordination of potential Ship to Ship and ship to barge operations, and management of local Agency, Surveyors, Suppliers, and Terminal relations.
Furthermore, the position requires communication with Bahri's customers regarding vessel itineraries, port movements, and operations, as well as overseeing Ship Inspection Services and evaluating findings to ensure the highest industry standards and safe operations provided by external parties.

Key Accountabilities:

Planning and Cargo

Prepare detailed pre-plans for the actual cargo operations in USG ports, including the optimization of stowage and cargo intake based on vessel particulars and draft limitations.

Supervise all cargo-related matters for ships in the area to ensure stowage optimization in conjunction with Masters/Ship Operators, maximizing cargo intake to enhance voyage earnings.

Coordination & Approval

Efficiently coordinate with Vessels, Operators, and Technical Managers before arrival regarding the intended operation in the first port.
Upon arrival, inform about the intended operations in this and coming ports.
If required, verify vessel loading computer calculations and obtain Master's approval on stowage and draft.

Port Operations

Supervise the actual cargo operation in ports and control the performance of the vessel, cargo surveyors, agents, and terminals to achieve the most efficient outcome.

Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong relations with Port Authorities, Suppliers, Agents, and Surveyors in the area to ensure seamless support during port operations.
Visit ports and terminals, building and maintaining good business relations with port authorities, charterers, surveyors, and agents.
Monitor and coach vessel crew, agents, surveyors, and terminal staff on safety and performance, and initiate improvements as required.
Issue ship visit reports.

Vessel Operation

Oversee bunker planning and other voyage-related activities in ports, optimizing the turnaround of the ships in the area and utilizing local connections for the most efficient vessel operation.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor s degree in marine or equivalent.

Minimum of 10 years of port operations experience in the USG area, with TWIC compliance with minimum 5 years sailing experience on Chemical/Product Tanker.

Experience in chemical tankers in a deck officer's position.

IT literate.

Deep knowledge of the local shipping industry and relevant operational procedures, international rules & regulations, as well as main chemical commodities.

Profound understanding of CFR and local US COTP applicable rules.
