SUMMARY
The Director of Finance and Operations is a position that provides strategic direction and ongoing support for any and all financial needs of the School.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year college/university.
Strong background (3+ years) in finance.
Knowledge of schools and educational landscape.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Finance
To maintain congruence between the Board of Trustees approved mission statement and all financial operations of the School.
To assist the Head of School with decisions regarding salaries and benefits for all personnel.
To prepare financial reports for the Head of School and Board of Trustees. Monthly meetings with Head of School to review revenue/expense budgets, proper reporting and capital campaign preparation and follow through;
Consistent financial modeling including, but not limited to, capital campaign, 'doomsday' scenarios, best-case scenarios, tuition modeling, five-year modeling, optimal size, and any other 'what-if' scenarios; and
Serve as point person on the financial implications as it relates to the optimal size for Harding Academy as well as financial modelling regarding different scenarios of attendance and other variables.

To be responsible for all banking relationships, including operational accounts, loan accounts (both new loans and refinances), etc.
To be responsible for preparing financial information and other requested data to present underwriters for insurance considerations. To serve on the insurance committee charged with making the insurance decisions. To educate and advise employees of insurance coverage.
To be proficient in and maintain competency in the area of fund accounting and reporting especially as it relates to schools.
To manage and report investments of the school including operational cash flow. To serve on the investment and benefits committee and provide information to committee members to assure compliance.
To lead the financial aid committee in interpreting the data submitted by applicants and awarding financial aid.
To serve, ex-officio, as a member of the finance committee of the Board of Trustees and to be available to attend all Board of Trustee meetings.
Operations
To contract, supervise and evaluate various ancillary services to the school, including but not limited to the cafeteria, summer program, after school services, office equipment, etc.
To supervise and evaluate the Director of Facilities and Transportation.
To be responsible for the proper payroll withholding tax compliance and processing.
To be responsible for accurate employment agreements and the payment of compensation based on the terms of the agreements.
To provide human resources with general support on employee benefit programs.
To manage the risk at the school by evaluating the internal and external exposures of the school and determining how to properly address such risks.
To lead the building and grounds committee to maintain appropriate facilities, capital reserves, and repair when scheduled. Keep updated a Building Condition Assessment document in order to have a proactive gameplan for capital replacements and reserves.

To serve on the Leadership Team of the school and any other assigned school committees as assigned by the Head of School.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak; hear; stand; walk; sit;
use hands to finger, handle, grasp or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally
required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee
must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job
include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust
