Our Journeyman Sheetmetal Mechanics are skilled professionals that can install duct work, measure, lay out fittings, and other related materials in new or existing commercial construction jobs. Our Journeymen Sheetmetal pros work alongside helpers and apprentices with minimal direct supervision, as they install various HVAC and ventilation-related components during commercial construction or renovation projects. At ShoffnerKathoff, skilled Journeymen can grow as far as their talents will take them. Journeymen can pursue their craft as individuals, but we promote from within wherever we can. Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
• Reading and understanding mechanical drawings, blueprints, and specs.
• Following and role-modeling a commitment to safety requirements.
• Installing hangers and ductwork in new commercial buildings.
• Mold and craft sheet metal to fit the need of the projects while following all necessary building codes.
• Train and develop Apprentices on the tools and skills needed to properly install HVAC components.

Experience, Training, and/or Certifications:
• 5 or more years of Sheet Metal experience in a commercial or industrial field.
• Ability to show required schooling and hours worked to be considered a Journeyman.
• NCCER certification preferred.

Additional Requirements:
• Maintain a positive, cooperative, and teachable attitude.
• Requires mechanical aptitude, mathematical, and English language skills.
• Complies and promotes company Safety Policy.
• Initiative; self-motivated (driven), self-starter.
• Excellent communication and customer services skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Professional demeanor and positive, caring attitude.
• Must be able to work independently and without supervision.
• Ability to stand, squat, bend, stoop, and comfortably lift up to 60 lbs.
• Familiarity with blueprint, schematic, drawings, and other equipment layout materials.
• Ability to pass a full background screening and drug screening.
• Ability to pass a physical ability test.
• Ability to travel, as needed, for projects.
• Must have High School diploma or equivalency and a valid driver's license.
