• Conduct comprehensive research on the health impacts of climate change, particularly in relation to infectious diseases and special pathogens.
• Develop, implement, and manage projects aimed at mitigating the health effects of climate change, ensuring alignment with the goals of the System-Wide Special Pathogens Program.
  This includes conducting a series of life cycle analyses of special-pathogen-related PPE and waste procedures, coordinates with vendors to attain necessary data, organizes group meetings to validate data, and presents the findings to enhance carbon reduction initiatives.
• Assist in the formulation of guidance s and protocols to enhance the health system s preparedness and response to climate-related health threats and works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including office of facilities, to advance climate health initiatives.
• Support supervision of Special Pathogens Climate Health Interns, assigns tasks, checks progress, and enhances their interdisciplinary special pathogen and climate health education.
  Develops a robust and sustainable special pathogens climate health internship program to engage young minds, including creating a framework for future interns.
• Assists in writing grant applications to support climate health projects and research from an all-hazards lens.
• Strengthens educational material on climate-driven infectious disease spread and bio preparedness, develops training resources, enhances climate communications with Emergency Preparedness coordinators, and writes special pathogen climate health informational briefs, as needed.
  
• Liaises with NYC Health + Hospitals facilities and Central Office system leadership to coordinate activities supporting program goals, including but not limited to identifying vulnerabilities in planning related to infectious threats, conducting interviews to inform the development or strengthening of related response plans, developing and revising response plans to maximize operational relevance in accordance with Emergency Management strategic vision, and reviewing and/or piloting response plans, potentially through the development of focused training and exercise strategies.
• Supports the Office of Emergency Management in developing training and preparedness efforts related to response plans aimed at infectious hazards, including developing training and exercise planning materials to support the team.
  
• As a member of the Office of Emergency Management, supports operational planning and responses to and recovery from emergencies, as needed.
• Participate in special projects as needed.
  

Minimum Qualifications:

Educational and/or experience requirements will vary requiring diverse kinds and levels depending on the content, complexity and variety of project.
Compensation levels will correspond to the requirements developed for the designated project.

In no event will the acceptable minimum be below:

1.
A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in a specialization discipline consistent with project content; and,

2.
Four years of substitutable and relevant health care experience related to the objectives of the project; or,

3.
A satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, training and education.

Department Preferences

• Knowledge and expertise of the use of SIMAPro to conduct life cycle analyses.
  
• Biostatistics:
  Knowledge of the use of STATA to conduct large-scale retrospective data analysis.
  
• Climate Health:
  Prior experience working at the intersection of climate and health.
• Emergency management:
  Prior experience in EM.
  
• Project Management:
  Independently develops and/or uses an organized approach to managing multiple deadlines in parallel across different initiatives and teams.
• Interpersonal Teams:
  Works well with individuals of different personality types, work styles, and backgrounds.
  Comfortable leading groups or teams, including occasionally with more senior employees as needed.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfort managing complex teams.
• Microsoft Excel:
  (a) Basic mastery is required, including basic spreadsheet set-up and management, arithmetic functions, and formatting tools.
  (b) Advanced mastery is preferred, including advanced functions, conditional formatting, and analytic tools.
• Microsoft Powerpoint:
  (a) Basic mastery is required, including basic formatting tools.
  (b) Advanced mastery is preferred, including developing presentation content and imagery catered to audience and presentation objectives.
• Management, visualization of project goals, requirements, and timelines are strongly preferred.
