Serving youth (at least one year of direct service desired). You have a demonstrable record of planning and implementing youth programs.
Basic classroom management and the ability to direct youth and provide them with clear steps and tools that support goals achievement.

Creating positive and supportive relationships with youth.

We currently have full and part-time opportunities available. Full-time is available at our John C. Kish Clubhouse (401 Drake Street, Henderson), James Clubhouse (2530 E. Carey, N. Las Vegas) and Lied Memorial Clubhouse (2850 Lindell Road, Las Vegas). Part-time is available at our Jackie Gaughan Clubhouse (920 Cottage Grove, Las Vegas), Lied Memorial Clubhouse (2850 Lindell Road, Las Vegas), Southern Highlands Clubhouse (10900 Southern Highlands Parkway, Las Vegas) and Donald Reynolds Clubhouse (2980 Robindale Road, Henderson). New openings may become available in the future.

The details:

Job Summary: The Youth Development Professional is responsible for implementing, leading, directing, and evaluating youth programs and activities in one or more program areas, providing supervision of members, as well as all participating in, helping with, and carrying out the daily functions of the clubhouse.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Program Management

1. Lead and implement programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes:

Promotes and stimulates members' interest in core area program participation
Ensures that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive respect, recognition, instruction, and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area
Demonstrates leadership in relation to member, parent, staff and visitor conduct and safety to ensure a proper environment for the development of members
- Under the guidance of the Clubhouse Director, Assistant Clubhouse Director, and/or Specialist staff, ensures program objectives are completed within club specific requirements, resources and timelines
- Participates in planning programs and activities that are appropriate based on age, gender and skill.
Supports programs managed by fellow staff

2. Oversees cleanliness and safe operation of all program area. Also assists other staff with the cleanliness and safe operation of the clubhouse and groundswhen needed

3. Serves as a mentor/role model for members. Provides direction to members through the establishment and enforcement of standards, expectations, and consequences for inappropriate youth behavior in accordance with organization guidelines. Applies corrective action that is fair, consistent and age appropriate. Provides written documentation and support when appropriate for conduct/behavior issues. May consult parents/guardians with the approval of Clubhouse leadership

4. Assists club staff in the retention and recruitment of members through outreach efforts

5. Works cohesively with club staff to foster a positive environment for staff and members. Assist and participate in all aspects of the clubhouse including, but not limited to all program areas, programs, or other scheduled duties as assigned

Relationship Management

1. Internal-Engages with members, families, Clubhouse staff, volunteers, Club Support Staff, Assistant Clubhouse Director, and Clubhouse Director to receive and provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines and instructions, report, and facilitate the implementation of programs. Participates in meetings to promote alignment and collaboration with other departments and clubhouses

2. External-Fosters and maintains partnerships with community groups, schools, members' families, and others to identify youth who may benefit from participation in programs

Administrative Duties

1. Assists with completion of required documentation for programs

2. Assists with compiling and producing accurate tracking of programs and program metrics including, but not limited to, monthly reports, program schedules, daily attendance

3. Assists with other Clubhouse administrative duties as needed

Additional Responsibilities

Participate in the required operational events and training
Enforces and abides by Clubhouse rules, organization policies, procedures and practices
Provide attention and direction to special needs children
Maintains a professional appearance and bearing reflective of the high standards of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada
Drives club van for field trips, school pickups, maintenance visits, or as otherwise directed
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Skills/Knowledge Required

High School Diploma or equivalent
Ability to deal effectively with children aged 6 through 18, in small group, large group and free play settings
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle competing demands
Skilled in time management with the ability to meet deadlines
Ability to organize, direct, and coordinate programs, activities and events
Demonstrated leadership, organizational, project management and planning skills
Ability to interact well with staff, volunteers, and other related agencies.
Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for the safety and well-being of others.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint) products

Preferred Skills/Knowledge

Associate's degree (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university in a relevant field or a minimum of two years progressively responsible experience working with youth in a wide range of programs and activities
Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency
Clean driving record and ability to safely operate a 15 passenger van for transport

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods, and stoop and kneel occasionally
Ability to speak and hear to use telephone, conduct meetings, etc.
Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen
Ability to effectively use computer, lift papers and files
Ability to push, p.
