American Trailer World (ATW) is North Americas leading manufacturer, distributer and retailer of professional and consumer grade trailers, truck equipment, and parts and accessories.
The company formed in 2016 when the nations two leading trailer companies, American Trailer Works and Big Tex Trailers merged in a deal led by Bain Capital.
ATW has approximately, 5,000 employees and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas.

ATWs nationally recognized brands include Big Tex Trailers, PJ Trailers, BWise Trailers, CM Truck Beds, Dakota Bodies, Carry-On Trailer, RC Trailers, and Big Tex Trailer World.
Its products are sold to dealers, retailers, big box retailers and other OEMs, all of which serve a variety of end markets including agriculture, construction, landscaping, recreational and general industrial markets.

Summary:

The Director of Operations leads all resources and activities related to the production of trailers.
Production areas include cutting, welding, painting, assembly, and shipping/receiving.
Functional areas include Site Level Operations, Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Production Efficiencies, and Maintenance.
This individual will work in partnership with all levels of the executive leadership team to redefine how this business unit operates, and partner to architect growth plans going forward.
This will entail assessing current capabilities in operations management, safety, quality, service, and cost then crafting a strategy to take the business to the next level.
Ultimately the goal is to positively impact the overall culture of the organization creating a best-in-class business unit.

Key Responsibilities:

Root Cause / Counter Measure (RCCM) safety issues driving improvements to target zero.
Define current capabilities, processes and systems and work collaboratively with all levels of the organization to help develop a transformational growth strategy.
Ensure all products are manufactured according to specifications, safety, and quality standards in the most efficient manner.
Meet or exceed budgets as well as other key financial manufacturing performance goals; Ability to analyze P&L and balance sheet to achieve financial objectives.
Drive continuous improvement activities and lead Lean transformation initiatives.
Execute operations plan to assure on-time completion of production orders.
Establish, refine, and administer KPIs to ensure customer and company business needs are consistently achieved and provide timely information to executive management team to drive effective business strategies.
Build a world class team of operational leaders.
Develop direct staff performance goals and objectives aligned with short term and long-term organizational goals.
Root Cause / Counter Measure (RCCM) warranty issues driving improvements.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Business or related field.
At least ten years operations management experience in a discrete manufacturing environment, strong track record of success and an action orientation.
Pedigree Lean training and enterprise-wide transformation experience.
Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and successful track record of implementing Toyota Production System methodologies such as:
Process Flow Mapping, Value Stream Mapping, 5S/Visual Factory, A3 Development and Management, TPM, SMED, Standard Work, Process Problem Solving, Built In Quality, Just In Time, Kaizen/Continuous Improvement, Hoshin Kanri (SD, X Matrix), and Lean ROI
Outstanding leadership.
Ability to communicate a compelling strategic vision for the operations team across the organization and demonstrate in a hands-on way how to get material results and positively impact culture.
Excellent analytical skills.
Ability to quickly analyze, interpret and recommend solutions to key stakeholders and to visualize new business processes across process boundaries.
Ability to communicate effectively to direct and motivate team and others, maintaining a persuasive and credible presentation style at all levels of the organization.
Successful track record of leading multiple sites and ability to travel as needed.
