SUMMARY

The North Carolina Baptist Aging Minsitry (NCBAM) is a minsitry of Baptist Children's Homes of NC. The Regional Director is responsible for orchestrating ministry /services of NCBAM in a designated geographic region*. Under the direction of the NCBAM Director, he/she is responsible for regionally implementing and managing the day-to-day operations of NCBAM ministry. The Regional Director must demonstrate the Agency's purpose, philosophy, policies and procedures and be a self-starter who can perform effectively within a flexible work schedule.
• The Central West region includes the following counties: Ashe, Alleghany, Watauga, Wilkes, Avery, Caldwell, Alexander, Mitchell, Yancey, Burke, Catawba, Lincoln, Gaston, Cleveland, Rutherford, Polk, and McDowell.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Preferred advanced degree in Christian ministry from an accredited seminary or university; or, a bachelor's or associate's degree in gerontology, social work, or related field with minimum two years' experience.
• Valid driver's license with the ability to operate agency vehicle for frequent travel
• Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Windows environment with Excel and skills in database management)
• Successful in establishing and maintaining meaningful and quality relationships
• Possess skills in proper telephone etiquette, active listening, and assessment
• Excellent communication skills, including public speaking capability and the ability to relate effectively with people from all economic, racial, age, ethnic, and social groups
• Experience in conducting community outreach and public speaking
• Ability to become AIRS (Alliance of Information and Referral Systems) certified upon meeting eligibility requirements (training will be provided)
• Must have the capability to develop, manage, plan, organize, implement, monitor and maintain NCBAM programs and services
• Possess a working knowledge and the ability to network community resources and church ministries for the aging.
• Meets the general qualifications for employment as outlined in the agency's personnel policies
• Respects the cultural diversity of others, and strives to create a positive relationship

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership and Management:
• Successfully implement the ministry of NCBAM in a designated region through effective leadership
• Establish and maintain NCBAM programs and events
• Represent NCBAM in community planning, functions, meetings, and public speaking engagements
• Promote, establish, and maintain the NCBAM care team model for care of the aging
• Sustain positive relationships with churches, associations, and state convention leadership
• Provide leadership in recruiting resources and care providers for NCBAM ministry
• Provide intake and coordination of services for aging and/or their families
• Make assessments for needs and complete care plans to assure the safety and well-being of aging individuals
• Assist the Call Center team in coordinating services
• Participate in strategic planning and team meetings

Communications:
• Answer incoming NCBAM calls by providing callers with requested information using a variety of data bases programs and services and one's own knowledge of human services available in North Carolina.
• Assessing callers needs, facilitating problem-solving with callers and making accurate referrals to appropriate community agencies, churches, and other local programs and services that are available
• Follow up with callers when appropriate to determine if they received the services they needed
• Make public presentations to churches, aging groups, service providers, civic groups, governmental types, and others as needed
• Answer incoming Hope Line Calls and sign up for shifts as needed
• Make Outbound calls as requested by Call Center and follow-up with participants in the Southeast

Data Processing and Management:
• Input information about churches and associations as well as ministries to the aging into NCBAM's data base
• Input caller information into care receiver program (Client Information North Light Program)
• Acquire and maintain a high level of familiarity with the different data bases, programs and services for aging adult needs
• Research and investigate information regarding community services

Knowledge and Training:
• Become AIRS certified upon meeting eligibility requirements (training will be provided)
• Continue increasing knowledge and skills in the area of aging adult care and services as needed to carry out the responsibilities of the position
• Ability to become AIRS (Alliance of Information and Referral Systems) certified upon meeting eligibility requirements (training will be provided)
• Keep up to date on Research regarding those 65+, Resources, Medicare, Medicaid

Professionalism and Teamwork:
• Serve as an advocate for callers when appropriate
• Represent the agency and mission of NCBAM in a professional manner
• Participate in 90-day and annual staff performance evaluations
• Keep supervisor informed on current status of total work responsibilities
• Carry out all assignments and directives of the Director

EQUIPMENT:

Capability to operate standard office machines such as copier, computer, fax, calculator, etc. Proficiency to work within Microsoft Windows environment - Outlook, Excel, Internet Explorer, Word and any other software programs needed to perform the services of NCBAM.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, write and complete necessary documents. Possess the skills to effectively present information (both written and oral) and respond to questions from callers, resources and the general public.

MENTAL / VISUAL / AUDITORY DEMAND:

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and ability to draw conclusions.

Regular contact with colleagues in all departments, as well as with outside individuals and groups; should represent Baptist Children's Homes of NC, Inc. in a positive manner. Contacts outside of the agency where proper handling of situations is of utmost importance as the agency's image could be affected.
