WHAT YOU WILL DO

onX seeks a talented Growth Android Engineer to help the Growth Domain design, build, and run experiments in the context of user onboarding, purchasing, and activating users in our products. You'll learn how to use data and user behavior analysis to drive decision making to increase the win rate and size of experiments which impact our quarterly metrics. In this role, you will focus on experiments related to all accepts of subscription purchasing like testing different offer types and purchase screen user interfaces. Growth engineers on our team have ownership and autonomy to create, develop, and analyze the outcome of their work to achieve team and company objectives. As an onX Growth Android Engineer, your day to day responsibilities would look like:

Develop new user-facing experiments in our Android app using Kotlin
Write quality code, tests and review pull requests promptly
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify key growth opportunities using data analysis and user behavior design
Learn when to optimize for speed vs. quality to increase experiment velocity
Maintain 3rd party library integrations
Lead by example - embody our company values

LOCATION

onX has created a thriving distributed workforce community across several US locations. This position can be performed from an onX corporate office, "Basecamp," or "Connection Hub".

Corporate Offices: onX was founded in Montana with offices in Missoula and Bozeman. If you prefer to work in an office at least part of the time this is a great option.
Basecamps: Basecamps are established virtual workforce communities where a sizable number of distributed team members group for work, volunteering, socializing, and adventure.
- Our current Basecamps are located within a 90-mile radius of the following: Austin, TX; Charlotte, NC; Denver, CO; Kalispell, MT; Minneapolis, MN; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; and Seattle, WA.
Connection Hubs: Connection Hub locations are smaller, emerging communities of distributed team members.
- Our current Connection Hubs are located within a 60-mile radius of the following: Boise, ID; Charleston, SC; Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Richmond, VA; Spokane, WA; and Vermont.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Minimum of three (3) years of professional software development experience is required, where Android development was your professional focus for at least two (2) or more years.
Experience with REST, Graphql, and/or gRPC
Understanding of best practices and architectural patterns such as MVVM.
Proficiency in GIT (particularly rebasing)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Curiosity around user behavior and data analysis to inform and improve experiment ideas
You have a strong computer science foundation
You believe that your profession is a craft and you're driven to improve every day
You are an advocate for the customer and their experience
You want to work with other engaged, talented engineers
You want to mentor junior engineers and be mentored by other senior engineers

ADDED BONUSES

Though not required, we would be thrilled to consider candidates with any of the following:

Experience working with subscription in-app purchases
Familiarity with A/B testing and statistical analysis
Interest in Consumer Psychology / Behavioral Economics
Interest in Business metrics and how Engineers can be impactful
Knows when to optimize for speed vs. quality in the context of experiment velocity
Knowledge of asynchronous programming using Flows and Coroutines
Knowledge of modern Android development libraries such as Jetpack Compose
Continuous Integration and/or Testing
Ability to work effectively with a distributed team

COMPENSATION

onX is committed to compensating all employees fairly and equitably for their contributions. This position will span 2 levels, applicants can expect to make between $105,000 to $145,000 upon hire. The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and education among other factors as required in the job description. In addition, full-time onX employees are eligible for a grant of common share options with a vesting schedule and a potential annual bonus of 10% based on company performance.
