Job Summary

The Student Government Association (SGA) at Missouri Western is committed to being an advocate for the student body, enhancing campus life and promoting the image of the University. The Chief of Staff of SGA is an appointed position and works with the President of SGA as the primary assistant to the SGA President in the execution of the duties of the Executive Branch by:

PARTICIPATING in the fulfillment of the University's mission & values: service, quality, enthusiasm, freedom, respect, & courage.
ADVOCATING for the views of the student body by working with the University administration to formulate University policy & by serving as members on University committees.
FACILITATING communication & mutual understanding between the Student Association, faculty, staff, & administration.

Essential Duties

Attend all SGA senate meetings and take minutes for SGA logs
Advises the SGA President in high level executive decision making
Oversees key strategic initiatives from development through successful execution
Ensures clear and coordinated communication within the executive branch
Maintains up to date knowledge on all operations of the SGA
Prepares reports, agendas, presentations, and other documents relevant to the operation of the executive branch and SGA as needed
Works with senior leadership to develop strategic plans and timelines for the operation of the Executive Board
Assists in the supervision of the members of the Executive Board
Other Duties as assigned by the SGA President or Vice President

Required Qualifications

MWSU Student
Degree Seeking
At least a cumulative 3.0 GPA
Enrolled full-time
Must be in good disciplinary standing with the University and remain so during their term of appointment.

Preferred QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities

An enrolled college student who shows interest and a positive attitude and leadership.
Must have a willingness to interact with people, and ability to keep confidentiality.
Must be able to handle professional situations, be attentive to other students and be punctual.
Strong communicator, empathetic, and good time management skills

Physical Demands
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

Additional Demands

The SGA Senate meets throughout the school year to discuss issues relevant to students and vote on legislation to solve the issues presented
