The Principal Systems Engineer provides technical leadership in product development, leveraging broad technical expertise, leadership skills, and knowledge of the medical device development process.
In this role, you will convert customer and stakeholder needs into system and product requirements, contribute to risk management, and identify technical risks and mitigation strategies.
You will assist cross-functional engineering teams in developing catheter-based electro-mechanical medical devices integrated with capital energy delivery systems.

Responsibilities:

Lead the development of medical device technology with mechanical components, electronics, and software throughout the product development life cycle.
Develop system architecture to effectively integrate capital equipment and disposable sub-systems.
Review and contribute to the development of hardware architecture, component selection, circuit board design, and print packages.
Translate voice of customer and stakeholder needs into system, product, and usability requirements.
Develop system-level design documentation and requirements specifications, ensuring completeness, clarity, and consistency.
Design, develop, debug, modify, and test design solutions using current tools, analysis techniques, and technologies.
Collaborate with technical leaders to solve problems using theoretical analysis, experimentation, and problem-solving methodologies.
Analyze test results, summarize findings, and prepare standard reports/documentation to communicate outcomes to the technical team.
Participate in risk management activities, ensuring that system and subsystem requirements and testing appropriately mitigate identified risks.
Collaborate on development plans for system integration, verification, and validation, providing technical leadership in executing systems testing.

Requirements:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred (other related technical degrees may be considered), with 10+ years of relevant work experience.
Strong technical background and experience in Systems Engineering, including translating user/business needs into system requirements, system architectural development, functional modeling, systems integration, statistical test design, verification and validation, hazards analysis, and FMEA.
Experience in developing energy delivery medical devices with integrated capital equipment and disposable components.
Experience working within Design Controls or equivalent frameworks for the Medical Device Industry.
In-depth knowledge of electrical safety standards (IEC 60601-1), high-frequency standards (IEC 60601-2-2), and EMI/EMC standards (IEC 60601-1-2).
Proficiency with lab equipment, including power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and spectrum/signal/logic analyzers.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate and make recommendations on trade-offs between risks, benefits, and performance.
