As a Sr.
Field Service Commissioning Technician you will be performing preventative maintenance, start-ups, and repairs on generators; including automatic transfer switches, diesel, and gaseous engines.
Promote safe and efficient operation of duties.
High travel required.Service, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul engines, genset systems and their electronic and mechanical systems.Lead on-site work, maintain active list of project timelines and prioritize job tasksPrepare work estimatesCommission and operate engines and genset systemsInstrument genset systems and record test dataInspect parts to assure conformance to specificationPerform field inspections of failed parts and write reports to avoid future incidentsMaintain engine, system, equipment log books, and detailed records of daily activitiesIdentify and request parts and tools to perform job functionsSource local vendors required for field serviceWork with product groups on product design developmentProvide input for updates of service manuals and bulletinsInstruct customers in safe engine operation, shutdown procedures and troubleshootingProvide technical assistance to other service personnelRemain technically currentMaintain a clean and safe work areaAnalyze technical data, and perform special projects as requiredRequirements:
Two years mechanical or technical trade school and 5 years field service with mechanical or electrical troubleshooting experience; or 7 years field service experience.Excellent knowledge of electronics and ability to read blue prints and electronic schematicsAbility to travel 60-80% on short notice international and domesticAbility to lift, push, pull weights in the 20-60 lb.
range; bend down, stand over, lay down and complete work tasks within the tight confines typical of genset enclosures and compartments and/or engine rooms for long periods of timeAbility to operate machine shop equipment used for fabricating test parts and equipmentStrong ability in the operation and troubleshooting of engines, instrumentation and electronic engine controls as well as the use of mechanical and electrical hand toolsStrong ability in the use of measurement and testing tools for mechanical and electrical systems; technical language and engineering terminologyStrong knowledge in the principles of electronics, physics, hydraulics, pneumatics; operation of internal combustion enginesStrong knowledge in the physical properties of fuels, coolants, lubricants and oilsProficient verbal and written English communication skills and good organizational skillsProficient with PC and MS Office SuiteClean driving recordQualifications:
Experience with MTU engines and electronicsExperience in gaseous engine service industryExperience in testing of gaseous engine componentsExperience in rigging of weights up to 1 tonExperience in report and service letter writingBi-lingual in Spanish is a plus
