Bachelor Degree or Higher
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with
- (SM) Learning Disabilities or (ZS) Early Childhood - General and Special Education

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Apply knowledge of co-teaching and PBIS best practices to meet student needs.
Develop and implement course objectives and outlines which provide appropriate student learning experiences
Determine instructional needs of students based on IEP assessment data and district curriculum.
Maintain a high quality of student activities including alignment with organization and state standards.
Prepare and maintain accurate and complete student records including student achievement and attendance.
Demonstrate a confident working knowledge of assigned content area(s) including appropriate instructional strategies and available resources.
Plan and execute individual and group activities that stimulate growth in the cognitive, affective and physical dimensions of each student.
Utilize a variety of instructional materials/resources and multiple strategies, including technology, to enhance student learning.
Establish and maintain an orderly and supportive classroom environment that maximizes student learning.
Communicate continually with students on learning and achievement expectations and their progress in meeting those expectations.
Maintain continuous communication with parents/guardians to keep them informed of the progress of their child.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide direct and/or supplemental instruction to students.
Ability to evaluate students current levels of academic performance using district standard for special education testing and assessment data of progress towards IEP goals and the curriculum.
Serve/participate on a Multi-Disciplinary Team.
Ability to manage student behavior to maximize engagement in learning.
Monitor progress and accommodate curriculum to support academic achievement.
Ability to coordinate with general education teachers, parents, and building staff to facilitate student progress and growth.
Ability to facilitate parent meetings such as parent teacher conferences and IEP's.
Ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, and parents regarding students' goals and progress.
Ability to coordinate and plan classroom activities with general education staff to meet curriculum expectations and IEP goals.
