The Advanced Placement (AP) Curriculum and Assessment Team (60+ staff)supports College Board in serving more than seven million students ayear as they prepare for a successful transition to college throughprograms and services in college readiness and college success -speci?cally through the AP Program.
AP is a rigorous academic programbuilt on the commitment, passion, and hard work of students andeducators from secondary schools and higher education.
AP provideswilling and academically prepared high school students with theopportunity to study and learn at the college level.
With more than 40+courses in a wide variety of subject areas, we are committed topromoting innovation, equity, and excellence for generations ofstudents.
AP\'s Assessment Leads and Course Leads ensure that coursecurricula are aligned to higher education expectations and reflect thestate of the art in the discipline, contribute to instructionalresources and tools for teachers, and develop assessments that allowstudents in these courses to demonstrate their mastery of course contentand skills.
The STEM department, which includes Biology, Chemistry,Calculus (AB and BC), Computer Science A, Computer Science Principles,Environmental Science, Physics (Physics 1, Physics 2, Physics C:
Electricity and Magnetism, Physics C:
Mechanics), Precalculus,Psychology, and Statistics is currently made up of 17 people supporting15 courses in the AP portfolio.
About the Opportunity
As the Senior Director, AP Physical Sciences Assessment Manager, youwill manage a small team of Assessment Leads in AP Physical Sciences,including AP Chemistry and AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, AP Physics C:
Mechanics, guiding theirassessment work and deliverables, as well as managing their training anddevelopment in assessment best practices.
The Senior Director, APPhysical Sciences Assessment Manager serves as the primary point ofcontact in AP for all assessment content for AP Physical Sciencescollaborating closely with the AP STEM Department Heads, SeniorDirector, AP Life Sciences Assessment Manager, and Senior Director, APSTEM Assessment Manager.
The Senior Director, AP Physical SciencesAssessment Manager may provide assessment development support in otherrelated subject areas.
The Senior Director, AP Physical SciencesAssessment Manager is responsible for all item development andmanagement from authoring to administration; training and collaboratingwith subject-matter experts (SMEs), typically college professors andsecondary school teachers.
The Senior Director, AP Physical SciencesAssessment Manager trains SMEs on assessment development protocols,translates between academics and technical experts (psychometricians),and collaborates to develop formative assessment materials and resourcesto support AP Physical Sciences teachers worldwide.
In this role, you will:

Assessment Development and Scoring (34%)
Be responsible for overseeing the development and management of allassessment content through iterative review stages with multipleinternal and external stakeholders, including the Assessment Leadsand Course Leads of AP Physical Sciences courses, AssessmentProduction team, Test Development Committees, and the Chief Readers
Be responsible for overseeing the authoring/revising of assessmentcontent and training educator constituents to author assessmentcontent, including selection of appropriate stimulus material, andapplying best assessment practicesfor AP Physical Sciences.
Be responsible for overseeing the development of all assessmentforms for AP Physical Sciences, ensuring the AP Exam developmentaligns with approved curricula and test specifications
Be responsible for overseeing multiple face-to-face meetings andvirtual meetings (during work week, evenings, or weekends) annuallywith each of the committees within the Senior Director\'sstewardship as well as other committee meetings in the life sciencediscipline, as needed
Be responsible for overseeing the successful scoring of student APExams at the annual scoring event in person and online-the APReading-and produce AP Reading publications materials for teacherand student usefor AP Physical Sciences
Assessment Quality and Process (33%)
Contribute to current research and best practices related to assessment;participate in regular discussions with other AP Curriculum & Assessmentmembers on the current assessment standards and practices to build a setof common, shared beliefs about AP\'s assessment directions within thelarger educational and assessment community
Contribute to processes for efficient, high-quality assessmentdevelopment
Refine and improve question task models as well as exam design incollaboration with and aligned to other College Board initiatives
Monitor and improve exam validity, reliability, fairness, and quality,as well as reader reliability in accordance with established Programthresholds
Serve as a recognized and trusted resource within the community bycollaboration with the AP Course Leads in engagement with the communityt
