Other Conditions: Position is expected to begin approximately August 2024 or as mutually acceptable. Renewal of appointment is dependent on performance, program needs and/or availability of funds.

Duties and Responsibilities
Research will involve preparing and sorting subsamples of sediment collected from offshore biomonitoring stations for polychaete worms and other invertebrates. Sediments will be processed under a microscope and carefully scrutinized; organisms will be removed and placed in vials for identification and comparison with a time series of samples from each collection site. The successful candidate should have a strong interest in pursuing a research career.

Minimum Qualifications
B.S. equivalent degree in biology or microbiology. Must be a current student enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Hawaii. Must have basic knowledge of marine invertebrate diversity. Skills in applying basic laboratory techniques to answer research questions; ability to organize tasks and to work independently. Experience in using microscopes.

Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge of invertebrate classification and taxonomy.
