We are currently looking to provide paraprofessional support in the high school special education department. The paraprofessional will, like all educators at MOT Charter, have a passion for education and a desire to be an integral part of a school that provides a first-class learning experience maximizing our students' intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development.

Planning and Preparation

Communicate with teachers as often as possible to ensure a thorough understanding of how to implement the content and specific accommodations/supports to students.
Arrive at school on time and be available through the end of the school day or until all students have been dismissed.
Complete non-instructional duties as assigned, including supervising student arrival and dismissal, hallways, bathrooms, etc.
Be familiar with school emergency procedures, and specific classroom procedures, such as those used for fire emergencies, shelter-in-place and lock downs.
Document and communicate concerns related to student IEPs and behavior with the teacher, and if necessary, the school's Dean, Educational Diagnostician, Counselor or an Administrator.
Be familiar with information provided by the teacher regarding student IEPs.

Instruction and Student Achievement

Support students through understanding of their IEP needs. In helping students complete lesson objectives, seek assistance from grade level/content specific team members or the front office when additional information is needed.
Offer content and instructional support that ensures achievement of school's academic standards.
Maintains a growth mindset for themselves and students.
Provide a classroom atmosphere based on the principles of firm, fair, and consistent practices, respect for individual children, and development of responsible citizenship.

Professional Responsibilities

In all respects, support the school, the school's mission and the school's leadership.
Collaborate with other faculty in order to provide a positive experience for students.
Conduct one's self according to professional, ethical principles.
Adhere to all school policies for both students and personnel.
Display personal qualities that reflect favorably upon the individual, the group, and the school.
Demonstrate genuine concern for students in a climate characterized by high personal and student expectations.
Adhere to all procedures and policies as outlined in the Employee Manual.
Maintain confidentiality inside and outside the school regarding personal interactions with students, staff, and parents.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Associates Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or Para-Pro Certification required.
Regular/Special Education teaching/classroom experience is also preferred. (3 years+)

Other Required Skills & Abilities:

Strong written/verbal communication skills

Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook and in the use of a student information system
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and tools
Punctuality in regards to workplace responsibilities including attendance, communication and team collaboration
Ability to model kindness, respect and responsibility to peers, students and families
