POSITION: Union: Pipe Fitter B (CNG-CT-East Hartford - Meadow St) (R-04612)

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1

LOCATION: CNG-CT-East Hartford - Meadow St

QUALINICATIONS:

Must pass the Bennett mechanical comprehension test.
Graduate of high school, trade school, or other formal technical training with experience in the plumbing / pipefitting or HVAC field
Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively.
Must have a MVD license and good driving record.
Must possess a strong mechanical aptitude, with basic skills and experience in cither Distribution or Fitting work Understand and follow oral and written instructions and interpret drawings or prints.
Requires mandatory progression to the bottom of Pipe Fitter A classification within 18 months.
Requires successful completion of a written test and field observation audit.
Must be physically able to perform heavy lifting and manual labor duties as required.

DUTIES:

*Coordinates and performs work assigned.
*Performs or assists as necessary in installing, changing, relocating and removing meters; installing, maintaining,
repairing and removing piping, meter connections and service regulators.
*Installs, repairs and maintains gas, water, vent and other piping.
*Must be capable of working semi-independently within 12 months.
*Has full responsibility for performing work safely and in a satisfactory manner.
*Responsible for organizing and maintaining tools and equipment assigned in an orderly condition; maintaining truck stock in accordance with prescribed requirements.
*Performs other miscellaneous Fitter Division work as required.
*Assists Serviceman on jobs requiring sori-skilled manual assistance, and performs other miscellaneous work as required.
*Performs the duties of a Meter Representative A.

NOTE: *Identifies essential functions

This position is a DOT Safety Sensitive Position. Any applicant accepted for this classification would be required to comply with all drug and alcohol regulations. This Position may require passing a Respiratory Fit Test.
