About the role

Steer is one of the world's leading independent consultancy firms working in the fields of multi-modal transportation and mobility. We have a well-earned reputation for providing an independent perspective on a wide range of urban transportation issues and delivering thoughtful, innovative and effective programming of the highest quality.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a transportation planning, outreach, or marketing background to act in a consulting role to support our contract to deliver outreach services for our client, the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), and their Sustainable Transportation Services (STS) Employer Program ((url removed)), a regional transportation demand management (TDM) program.

This position will work with Steer's other STS team members and the SANDAG client team to help San Diegans understand their alternative travel choices and encourage them to reduce the number of trips they make driving alone, thereby reducing congestion and greenhouse gas emissions in the region.

This position is based in Little Italy in Downtown San Diego and will follow a hybrid workplace model including working from the office, working from home, and conducting business meetings at employer sites throughout San Diego County.

Please note that remote working from outside the San Diego region is not possible.

Responsibilities

Organize events and plan alternative transportation campaigns at employer sites ranging from tabling to Lunch and Learns

Use motivational and engagement strategies to entice employers to participate in the program and to encourage employees to try sustainable transportation options

Support the STS team in developing and organizing various projects to encourage participation in the Employer Program

Prepare and deliver presentations, survey analysis reports, and marketing materials

Use spreadsheets, databases, and project management tools to ensure the efficiency and successful performance of the program, including:

Tracking employer clients via Salesforce (CRM platform)

Using Basecamp (project management platform) to manage individual and team tasks

Using Microsoft SharePoint and Google Drive to manage shared program documents

Interact and engage with approximately employers throughout the region

Key Skills

Skills and experience in transportation planning concepts, the benefits of multi-modal transportation choices, sales/marketing, customer service, and/or approaches for engaging business managers and employees

Communication skills, both written and oral

Relationship building, networking skills and emotional intelligence

Work-life balance

Hours, expectations, and exemption status will be determined for any applicant seeking a part-time opportunity.

Compensation

The salary range for all applicants are $64,000 to $75,000 USD.

Do be advised that this is an estimated benchmark salary of good faith for the State of California. All compensation may be subject to change as skills, abilities and internal equity are taken into account.

Steer is committed to ensuring that all its employees are compensated a fairly and at a competitive rate. All initial compensation, regardless of location, may be subject to change as skills, abilities, internal equity and geographic location are taken into account.

In addition to base salary, all employees will be eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus. Please review the benefits section for more information on total reward.

Steer reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional compensation.

Requirements

Up to 4 years of experience in a related field such as transportation planning, urban planning, marketing, communications/outreach, or public relations

This position will require the use of a personal vehicle

Business travel will be required throughout San Diego County

Experience with Salesforce, Basecamp, and SharePoint platforms is not required, but would be an asset

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

For our US applicants, we offer a competitive package of benefits including private medical, dental, and vision insurance, commuter benefits, a group Share Incentive Plan, a 3% 401k contribution and a discretionary yearly bonus based on annual compensation (dependent upon individual and company performance).

Additionally, we offer 20 vacation days, 9 paid holidays, 3 floating holidays, 10 paid sick days, and a bi-annual performance review process.
