Nurse Practitioner
Job Type: Part Time 30 hours a week
Location: Bureau of Prisons, San Diego, California
Schedule Range: Monday-Friday (7:30AM-2PM)
Responsibilities: Included but not limited to
Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services for the inmate population
Conduct medical histories, examine patients, and order and interpret laboratory test, x-ray and other diagnostic testing
Diagnosis and treat patients in an efficient, timely and professional manner, provide treatment plans and prescribe medication utilizing the Bureau of Prisons formulary
Clinically manage injuries by suturing, splinting and immobilizing
attend to medical emergencies
Record progress notes, recommend clinically necessary outside consultation, instruct and counsel, and order or carry out therapy.
Emergency consultation to be performed by the contractor in instances where deemed necessary.
Work collaboratively with the staff physicians and consulting physicians in planning, instituting, evaluating and revising program plans
Assists in determining conditions, resources, and policies essential to the delivery of health care services
Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical, emotional or mental problems
Manages the daily operation of the clinic and conducts daily sick call; which may include securing health histories from the patient, recording findings and providing clinical evaluations
Provides a wide range of emergency services, in the absence of the physician
Constantly be aware of security and maintain a professional relationship with inmates at all times
Requirements and Experience: Included but not limited to
Valid California RN License
Current CPR and Automatic External Defibrillator Card
Providing verification of credentials
Proof of Malpractice insurance
Must have 1 year family medicine experience or 1 year of urgent care experience
