Requirements:

Completion of accredited Surgical Technician program
• OR-2 years of on-the-job training
• OR-7 years of experience working in the field
• OR-Military training program with 2 years surgical tech experience

For RNFA:
current Arizona RN license or compact state license
For all First Assists:
American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross(ARC) or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) BLS
ACLS Preferred.
PALS Preferred.
Graduate The American Board of Surgical Assistants with a Certification as a Surgical First Assist required.

About the Job:

The RNFA Surgical Tech in the Operating Room at Northwest Medical Center, assists surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up for operations and passing items to doctors and nurses as needed and assists in preparing and moving patients and in cleaning the operating theater.
Assists in preparing rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment.
Assists with opening of sterile supplies, sets up for procedures and maintains an orderly surgical field.
Adequately prepares for procedures/surgeries and anticipates physician's needs during procedures/surgeries.
Accepts and properly identifies any medication or solution onto sterile field.
Handles specimens/cultures according to policy and performs sponge, instrument and sharps counts according to policy.
Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment, instruments and supplies and returns all to proper locations.
