The Wilson School District is looking for a highly energetic and motivated Payroll/Accounting Associate to work in our Business Department. This is an exempt position with a competitive annual salary of $47,000.00.

JOB SUMMARY

As the Payroll / Accounting Associate, you help ensure students have access to high quality education they need to learn in a safe and healthy environment by providing direction to the overall fiscal affairs of the district. You will also have the opportunity to provide and grow in a leadership role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Responsible for payroll according to USFR and State guidelines ensuring processes are adhered.

* Performs electronic payroll processing on the formerly known as Infinite Visions (Now School ERP Pro) system in conjunction with the Maricopa County School Superintendents Office utilizing district software.

* Enter all contracts, pay schedules and calendars into the payroll system.

* Performs electronic processing of the time/attendance on the Time Clock Plus (TPC) system.

* Responsible to ensure that all source documents and payroll procedures are completed in a timely manner.

* Works with personnel to ensure that new employee information packets are completed.

* Processes employee payroll deductions for TSA's, dependent insurance, NEA/AEA dues, Credit Union, etc. and as allowed by District policy and makes biweekly deposits to each appropriate bank account.

* Maintain accurate banking records for all related bank accounts.

* Sets up employee payroll folders and maintains appropriate information. Performs data entry on new employees.

* Review of timecard plus for absences, tardiness, and verifies docks for upcoming payroll; maintain all attendance records and process AESOP.

* Assist district staff to ensure the processing and reporting of the Alternative Contribution Rate (ACR) is completed accurately and timely.

* Ensures that electronic tax deposits are timely processed and assists with completing federal and state quarterly tax reports. Also assists with the review and distribution of W2 information at year-end.

* Completes wage information forms from other agencies such as from Mortgage Companies, DES, AHCCS, Social Security, rental firms, and retirement systems, etc.

* Maintains current knowledge of legal and business practices by attending meetings and memberships in related organizations.

* Assist with journal entries/requisitions & maintain fiscal and financial related records and files in accordance with policies.

* Provide transparent updates to Human Resources Director & Executive Director Business Services on various tasks to ensure accurate information is maintained.

* Performs other duties when needed in the office such as phone answering, filing documentation, preparing outgoing mail, greeting the public, and miscellaneous supply ordering and reconciliations.

* Participate in professional development and continuous enhancement of roles and responsibilities.

* Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director Business Services.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

* Associate degree

* 3+ year USFR knowledge and 3+ year AZ K-12 Bookkeeping and/or Accounting experience

* Knowledge of TPC, AESOP and formerly Infinite Vision

(Now School ERP Pro)

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

* Bachelor's degree in business/Finance/Administration

* 7+ year AZ K-12 bookkeeping and/or accounting experience and USFR knowledge

* Use of: QuickBooks systems

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

* Basic activities pertaining to the daily functions of the payroll responsibility for Arizona K-12.

* Training & experience in electronic payroll processing practices and procedures.

* Laws and regulations pertaining to accounting operations & USFR guidelines.

* Bookkeeping regarding payroll processes.

Skilled in:

* Possess good ability in mathematics, analytical thinking, typing skills, and usage of 10 key adding machine and keyboard.

* Maintaining accurate, efficient record keeping processes.

* Critical thinking and problem-solving.

* Written and verbal communication.

Ability to:

* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and associates.

* Crosstrain in other financial areas to support the district office with roles and responsibilities.

* Transparent & work in a team cohesive environment and prioritize from a variety of tasks.

We are a Pre-K through 8th grade school district in Phoenix, Arizona, established as the seventh school district organized in Maricopa County in 1879 and named for Mr. W. J. Wilson, a school board member. The district name was changed in the mid-1930's to Hawkins School. From Wilson to Hawkins to Ward to Skiff, the District was bought by Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and relocated to its current location in the early 1980's and named Wilson Primary and Wilson Elementary, opening on Martin Luther King Day in 1985. The district boundaries cover an area from Roosevelt Street to the north; the Salt River to the south; 40th Street to the east; and 16th Street to the west.
