Community Support Worker
Permanent, Part-time (3 days, 24 hours per week)
General working hours are 8:
30 a.m.
to 5:
00 p.m., Monday through Friday (with the possibility of later hours and weekend work) .
You will share this role with another employee.
The role is based in Waiheke Island
Pay Equity:
$24.00 - $29.25ph (Service falls under Pay Equity.
Pay is determined by qualification and equivalence to the National Certificate of Health and Wellbeing L4)

The Community Support Services Central - a specialist service within Ember - is responsible for engaging and supporting people who face challenges with their mental wellbeing.
The aim is that all people can engage in their chosen community and achieve their fullest potential.
This includes working with the individual as well as a commitment to work actively in partnership with family/ whānau, Community Mental Health Centres and General Practitioners.
The service promotes self-management and self-reliance for all in areas such as accommodation, transport, employment, self-care, personal and interpersonal skills to enable people to live as independently as they are able to in the community of their choice.
Our geographical area covers people living in Central Auckland, Waiheke Island and West Auckland.
The service is for people who face low to severe mental health challenges who are finding it difficult to live in their community, or to reach their desired goals.
Our Registered Health Professionals/ Social Workers and Support Workers have a specialised and a wide range of skills applicable to the respective qualification, which include knowledge in communication skills, assessments, planning and implementation, psychiatric medication (including side effects) and a good knowledge of mental health disorders.

Community Support Workers, we believe, are the key ingredient for successful client outcomes.
Consequently, we provide ample and on-going tools and encouragement to develop, grow and flourish in the role, striving to ensure an environment of learning, teamwork, and enjoyment.
You will apply your skills and experience to work closely with those who are referred to us either through primary or secondary services.
You will work alongside people with a mental health diagnosis to assist them in living, engaging, and thriving in a community of their choice.
Effective communication and a person-centred approach are vital for this role as you will be working alongside clinical teams and other community agencies to ensure a wraparound service to the people we support.

Have/Working towards a National Certificate in Health and Wellbeing or equivalent
Have the ability to work in a team environment and from a bicultural perspective.
Be professional and have good boundaries and ethics.
Have experience working in the area of mental health and/or addictions (alcohol and other drugs)
Full NZ Drivers Licence
Valid/Current work visa, residency, or citizenship
Have a passion for walking along side those in need, supporting on-going goals on the pathway to recovery.
