About the roleThe Medical Science Liaison (MSL) provides peer-level scientific exchange with clinicians and researchers working in neuromuscular and autoimmune diseases at UCB.
This individual develops relationships of trust and mutual support built on common interests in fostering deep, science-driven understanding of autoimmune diseases such as myasthenia gravis, advancing potential new therapies, and mapping new strategies for patient value creation.
The MSL will thrive for an intimate understanding of the Eco-system needs & behaviors for the indication, act as the customer-facing, key point of contact and as the connector with UCB internal capabilities, and ultimately drive for co-creation within an Eco-system to achieve personalized & fit-for purpose solutions.Close connectivity and teamwork with Clinical Development Solutions/SEM's and how to support investigational centers and create value in external stakeholders (experts and PIs) interactionsThe position reports to the EU Field Medical Lead Rare Diseases Neurology What you'll doPlay a crucial role in the development of the rare disease MSL organization with focus on rare neurologic diseases starting with Myasthenia Gravis.
Further develop and refine your scientific expertise and skillset through regular interaction with external and internal thought leaders.
Manage and execute stakeholder engagement within a local region based on training, expertise, and individualized approaches to identifying local needs and opportunities.
Engage regularly with:
clinical trial sites, investigators, key opinion leaders, and patient advocacy organizations with the common goal of seeking to improve the lives of patients with rare diseases.
Close connectivity and teamwork with Clinical Development Solutions/SEM teams to support investigational centers and create value in external stakeholders (experts and PIs) interactionsClose connectivity and teamwork with Market Access (field) teams to support local access and create medical value in external stakeholders (Payer) interactionsIdentify local networks.Identify registers and PAs with potential to collaborate in our CTsSet awareness on Rare Disease Neurology Indications (starting with MG) and opportunities.Full territory mapping including identification of centers of excellence, KOLs and relevant stakeholders including Patient Groups/Associations and Medical Societies to include relevant stakeholdersCustomer insights:
collect customer insights in a harmonized way using latest digital tools that feed into our DBT strategy of using AI-engines to increase value to HCP's and patients (veeva/ORBIT)Host online medical education events as a facilitator to connect KOL with relevant peers, be open and drive evolution of remote connectivity and other digital channelsExecute the medical plan with an agile mindset following but not limited to key principles such as customer/data centricity, MVP approaches, iterations and retrospectives.
Act KPI drivenProvide training and expertise to internal colleagues as a subject matter expert within selected disorders with a focus on FcRn and complement physiology and pathophysiology.
Be proactive and identify new ways to bring value to internal and external stakeholders Develop evidence generation projects with CoE to differentiate UCB and its solutions Set long-term professional development goals within a company model and culture that fosters opportunities for career growth.
Work independently and collaboratively in the field.
Identify patients (diagnosed & undiagnosed) Build trust & credibility with Eco-systems developing relationships with leading academic researchers and KOLs thought leaders to achieve alignment on key research and clinical objectives.
Act as enabler for science partnerships fostering appropriate discussion of UCB research objectives and findings through thought leader engagement and educational activities.
Representing UCB at local, regional, and national professional and academic conferences where issues related to the diagnosis and treatment of myasthenia gravis and related autoimmune disorders are addressed.
Mapping existing care pathways in myasthenia gravis within his/her area to identify unique or evolving unmet patient needs.
Identifying and cultivating potential clinical trial partners and working with existing trial sites to ensure recruitment, participation and reporting objectives are met and are compliant with UCB standards of practice.
Serving as the local expert in UCB's focus on neuromuscular diseases and the anti-FcRn and complement inhibition platforms.

7 + years of Medical Science Liaison experience with 3 years+ at least for a rare disease.
Drug Relevant therapeutic area experience is a plusDemonstrated strength in execution of medical plansEffective communication, presentation and engagement skills including mastery of English languageDigital LiteracyKOL engagement experience Willingness to travel on regular basis, valid Driver's License Working experience in Rare, neuromuscular and/or autoimmune diseases preferred Excellent communication and presentation skills Ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts in 1:
