Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role is a key contributor to the accounting and financial reporting cycle, performing end-of-period close activities, facilitating process efficiencies, upholding strong internal control practices, and supporting the company's growth initiatives.
Key Accountabilities:
Prepare and post month-, quarter-, and year-end close process journal entries, accruals, account analysis and reconciliations for subsidiaries
Prepare supporting documentation, ensuring completeness, mathematical accuracy, and adherence to accounting policies
Assist with trial balance reviews, preparing variance analyses and commentary
Recommend, document, implement, and maintain improvements to the close cycles and related processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
Own the accounting processes within Workday, implementing customization decisions and content releases
Partner with stakeholders to understand and support business processes, upholding best accounting and internal control practices
Assist with internal and external audits, including preparing working papers to respond to audit requests
Support ad-hoc projects and initiatives, including M&A, integrations, reorganizations, and automation opportunities
Prepare financial ratio calculations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
Prepare GST/HST returns
Must Haves:
University undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting
Canadian CPA designation (or equivalent) or close to completion
3+ years of relevant experience in accounting
Intellectually curious and motivated
Collaborative and works cross functionally
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
Highly organized, with time management skills and attention to detail
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
Experience with general ledger or accounting systems such as Workday, Oracle, or SAP
Solid understanding of IFRS Accounting Standards, including ability to apply accounting principles to new scenarios/transactions.
Strong written and verbal communication
Nice to Haves:
Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides)
Experience in public accounting
