Echum Composite School invites applications for a qualified teacher to commence employment for the 2023-2024 school year.
We are a First Nations school located in Northern Ontario James Bay, with an enrollment of 130+ students in Grades 7-12.
A Cree community with a population of 3000+ that is accessible by river boat and winter road.
We offer a competitive salary based on experience and qualifications, immediate and matching contribution to Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, a travel and relocation allowance, and a fully furnished housing unit with subsidized rent.
QUALIFICATIONS • Current registration and in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) • Must have Special Education, Specialist Parts • Minimum Bachelor of Education Degree REQUIREMENTS/ABILITIES • Submit cover letter with application package • Submit copies of all credentials, if not registered with OCT • Submit a current Police Information Check with vulnerable sector check or proof of application • Submit two most recent work references and one personal character reference with permission to contact • First Aid and CPR certification or willing to obtain within a reasonable period • Strong communication skills are required for working with students, parents, staff members and consultants • Ability to work as a member of a professional team and a willingness to participate in the school learning philosophy • Ability to adapt curriculum to meet a range of learning styles and abilities • A willingness to be flexible in teaching assignments • A willingness to live in an isolated community and participate as a member of the community • Knowledge and sensitivity to the traditions and aspirations of First Nations people and experience in working in a multicultural setting Start Date:
