Health & Safety Manager EHS

Overview

Our client, located in Listowel, ON, has an immediate opportunity for an EHS Manager.

Main Responsibilities

Monitor and improve the Environmental Management System, ISO 14001 and the Occupational Health & Safety System

Ensure the facility operates within applicable environmental and health and safety laws and regulations and policies

Participate on the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee and Environmental Committee

Develop and provide guidance on Environmental, Health and Safety issues and policies

Assist with facilitating environmental and health and safety training programs

Act as a liaison for the facility regarding health and safety and environmental issues

Coordinate health, safety and environmental audits

Ensure governmental reporting is completed on a timely basis

Provide meaningful statistics to management in a timely manner to assist in continued improvement of environmental and workplace health and safety practices

Assist in the health and safety evaluation of new machinery and make recommendations to Management to make new equipment safer

Continue.

Develop, implement and facilitate where necessary training programs, and or training videos, in support of the Health and Safety program.

Support, coach, counsel leaders in employee relations and legislative matters and assist in facilitating resolution with team member issues. When necessary, participate in the performance management and corrective action process.

Daily plant safety audits and activities designed to monitor the effectiveness of the company's EHS programs

Contact person for the MOL for onsite investigations and reporting of critical injuries

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

University or College degree/diploma preferably in one of the following areas: IndustrialHygiene, Risk Management, EH&S Management Program

Completion of or progress towards Part 1 & Part 2 H&S Certification an asset

Certification as a trainer or auditor for ISO, including WHMIS and IRS (Internal Responsibility System) legislation is an asset

Experience with environmental or safety improvement projects in a manufacturing setting is an asset

Solid comprehension of current health and safety and environmental legislation

Able to successfully communicate with all levels in the organization

Capable of effectively designing and delivering training programs

Possesses excellent organization skills essential for maintaining systems

Proven ability dealing with government agencies (MOL & MOE)

Previous supervisory managing a team of H&S professionals

Other skills required:

Effective Project Management skills

Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Good written and verbal communication skills
