Northwood is currently accepting applications for a Gardener - Summer Term to join our team in Bedford.
Gardener - Lead, Community Recreation & Wellness
Qualifications:
Grade 11 or higher
Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act(1). , and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
Knowledge or experience in gardening
Tasks/Responsibilities:
Support seniors and newcomers to plant, grow and harvest vegetables in a community garden that is fully accessible.
Tool shed inventory, cleaning, maintenance.
Maintaining garden beds by feeding and mulching plants.
Weeding beds and ensuring proper health of plants.
Pruning trees, shrubs, plants, etc.
Engaging with park participants, clients, community. Liaison for community garden workshops.
Create and distribute Community garden weekly information email and posters.
Assist with the business aspect of running a community garden such as finances, marketing, communication, etc.
Ensure policies and procedures are up to date and being adhered too.
Hours/Shift: Casual
Rate of Pay: $16.30 per hour
Start Date: July 8th 2024
