Echum Composite School invites applications for a qualified teacher to commence employment for the 2024/2025 school year.We are a First Nations school located in Northern Ontario James Bay, with an enrollment of 130+ students in Grades 7-12.
A Cree community with a population of 3000+ that is accessible by river boat and winter road.
We offer a competitive salary based on experience and qualifications, immediate and matching contribution to Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, a travel and relocation allowance, and a fully furnished housing unit with subsidized rent.QUALIFICATIONS • Current registration and in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)• Minimum Bachelor of Education Degree• Qualifications in Secondary English REQUIREMENTS/ABILITIES • Submit cover letter with application package• Submit copies of all credentials, if not registered with OCT• Submit a current Canadian Police Information Centre(CPIC) with Vulnerable Sector Check or proof of application• Submit two most recent work references and one personal character reference to resume with permission to contact• First Aid and CPR certification or willing to obtain within a reasonable period• Strong communication skills are required for working with students, parents, staff members and consultants• Ability to work as a member of a professional team and a willingness to participate in the school learning philosophy• Ability to adapt curriculum to meet a range of learning styles and abilities• Ability to deliver appropriate Individual Education Plans within the classroom• A willingness to be flexible in teaching assignments• A willingness to live in an isolated community and participate as a member of the community• Knowledge and sensitivity to the traditions and aspirations of First Nations people and experience in working in a multicultural settingStart Date:
