YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS MANAGER, CAMPUS SECURITY SERVICES:
• Manage day-to-day operations, providing strategic leadership and fostering a respectful work environment that promotes teamwork and cooperation.
• Offer guidance, mentorship, and direct supervision to security department staff, focusing on achieving departmental goals and staff development.
• Evaluate overall performance of Campus Security Services in collaboration with contracted security providers and university leadership.
• Contribute to identification, negotiation, and selection of external contracts related to department operations, including contract security services.
• Identify security staffing needs based on emerging trends and operational requirements to maintain effective security and safety services; ensure the hiring of contract security staff reflects the University's mission and diversity values.
• Represent Campus Security at confidential meetings; provide recommendations for teams such as Emergency Management and Sexual Violence Response.
• Ensure compliance with university policies and procedures among all Campus Security Team members and adherence with collective agreements; manage compliance and reporting with contract security services providers.
• Contribute to CCTV strategy, including software, equipment, placement, and deployment.
• Manage incident reporting, keeping senior management promptly informed of serious incidents affecting security or safety; ensure robust records management system for incident data.
• Participate in developing the annual Campus Security budget; ensure expenditures align with approved allocations.
• Manage disciplinary processes for Campus Security staff and contract security guards, addressing performance-related issues and grievances.
• Contribute to development and implementation of Campus Security Services' emergency and business continuity protocols.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN A MANAGER, CAMPUS SECURITY SERVICES:
• Post-secondary education in criminology, law enforcement academy or security industry training
• 10+ years of progressive policing/security experience including 5+ years of management experience
• Experience planning, leading teams, and executing multi-functional events that require large security personnel on-site
• Experience with financial administration, budgeting, and expense management
• Valid Security Guard License, CPR, and First Aid Training
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and exhibit sound judgement
• Strong presentation skills, emotional and business intelligence, and proven leadership capabilities
