Position Rationale:

The Quality Technician (South Contract Maintenance Areas) is crucial in ensuring that the organization meets all relevant Quality Management specifications, standards, industry regulations, and contractual requirements. This position supports overall success by aligning quality standards and procedures with ISO standards, legislation, customer specifications, and reporting requirements through desktop auditing.

Position Accountabilities:

• Understand and apply Contract Maintenance Area (CMA) Visual Intervention Guidelines and related contract specified Performance Measures (PMs).
• Conduct surveillance monitoring of PMs and report deficiencies, potential deficiencies, and non-compliant work activities to supervisor and operational supervisors for verification.
• Compile contract-specified reports for review as per Data Collection and Reporting requirements.
• Monitor and document aspects of winter service delivery during the winter season.
• Assist with the maintenance of QA/QC monitoring programs, including compiling necessary documents for Annual Performance Reviews.

Training:

• Assist in training employees on ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
• Support ongoing employee training initiatives, including training on the Work Management System.

Work Management System:

• Monitor accuracy of information outputs and suggest improvements.
• Analyze data to identify areas for Quality System improvement.
• Monitor work identified, scheduled, and completed against contract timelines.

Customer Service:

• Understand stakeholder groups interacting with the organization.
• Demonstrate a problem-solving approach to inquiries and concerns.

Working Environment/Conditions:

• Office-based, working with computer systems.
• Regular collaboration with internal departments
• Communication via telephone, e-mail, and in-person discussions (drafting emails, letters, and memos).
• Occasional travel for onsite visits, meetings, etc.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience in quality assurance, quality control, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Technical Requirements:

• ISO 9001:2015 certification or strong understanding of 9001:2015 requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, TEAMS & Forms).
• Knowledge of SharePoint software.
• Proficiency in Work Management Software, an asset.

Our story begins in 1996 with the privatization of Highway Maintenance in the Province of Alberta. We started our operations in Southern Alberta, and have maintained the roads, and bridges in the Lethbridge Contract Maintenance Areas ever since. In 2001, we assumed responsibility for the Calgary area, and further expanded our operations in 2016 with the 30-year maintenance contract of the North East section of the Anthony Henday Drive in Edmonton. In August 2019 we added all of Mountain View County and Clearwater County to our areas and currently maintain approximately 30% of the provincial road network (~ 18,500 lane km's). Over 200 plow trucks, and more than 350 people, work all year round to provide safe roads and bridges to the travelling public in Alberta.
