Sr. Accountant - Foundation Accounting

Sr. Accountant

Our client is a not-for-profit Catholic health care system operating multiple hospitals and medical clinics across seven states.As a leading healthcare provider, they are committed to serving their communities and ensuring the well-being of patients. This role is 100% remote.

Responsibilities:

1. Balance Sheet Reconciliations:

   • Perform comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations for the foundation's accounts.
   • Investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions to ensure financial accuracy.
   • Maintain accurate records and complete reconciliations in a timely manner.

2. Process Standardization:

   • Develop, implement, and maintain standardized accounting processes for efficiency and accuracy.
   • Communicate these processes to stakeholders for consistent application.
   • Continuously evaluate and refine processes to adapt to changing needs and regulations.

3. Journal Entries:

   • Prepare and post journal entries related to the foundation's financial transactions.
   • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with accounting standards and policies.
   • Maintain organized documentation to support all entries.

4. Financial Reporting:

   • Assist in preparing accurate and timely financial reports for the foundation (monthly, quarterly, and annual).
   • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements specific to healthcare foundations.
   • Collaborate with the hospital's finance team for integrated financial reporting.

5. Donor Fund Accounting:

   • Manage donor-restricted and unrestricted funds, tracking usage in line with donor intent and regulations.
   • Provide financial insights and support for donor stewardship in collaboration with the fundraising team.

6. Audit and Compliance:

   • Assist in internal and external audits of the foundation's financial activities.
   • Ensure adherence to GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
   • Stay updated on healthcare and foundation-specific regulations for compliance.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2. Minimum 5 years of accounting experience (preferably in healthcare or hospital setting)
3. Strong knowledge of GAAP and healthcare foundation regulations
4. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
