Who we are and what we do:

The mission of the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) is to operate safe and secure prisons and provide effective community supervision in order to enhance public safety.
The Department manages and operates or oversees 14 state prisons housing approximately 21,000 offenders.
In addition, the Department supervises approximately 79,000 offenders on probation, parole, or community correction and operates 8 Day Reporting/Community Resource Centers (DRC/CRC) across the state.
The Department is fully accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA).
How you make a difference in this role:

The Audit Director 1 position oversees the coordination of the daily administrative services of institutional compliance with Department of Justice Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards, Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury audits, and American Correction Association (ACA) standards.
Other duties and responsibilities include oversight of the development of policies related to PREA programs, reviewing policies governing the Compliance division, preparing reports and presentations, overseeing the development and distribution of inspection instruments, and overseeing audit processes related to PREA and ACA.
Additionally, the Audit Director 1 coordinates and oversees the Department's participation in audits conducted by the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury (COT) and conducts follow-up audits on findings and plans of corrective actions.
The Audit Director 1 supervises three (3) regional Compliance Specialists.
This position reports directly to the Inspector General.
Job Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage 3 regional Compliance Specialists, to include developing job performance plans, completing Interims I and II and annual reviews, reviewing audit reports, ensuring attendance or completion of all required initial and annual training, and other providing supervisory support as required.
Oversee and manage the annual compliance audit process for PREA audits
Oversee PREA mock audits and the preparation of institutions for PREA audits
Oversee the development of policies related to PREA programs
Provide guidance to institutions regarding PREA compliance, as necessary
Coordinate and oversee the Department's participation in audits conducted by the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury
Oversee and manage follow-up audits on findings and plans of corrective actions resulting from COT audits
Prepare and review compliance reports
Prepare reports and presentations for executive staff
Maintain a tracking system for findings notated during audits
Maintain a calendar for the division detailing audit dates and locations
Oversee and manage the development and distribution of inspection instruments
Review policies, as assigned
Provide guidance to institutions regarding ACA compliance, as necessary
Attend conferences, upon request.
Oversee and manage the annual compliance audit process for ACA audits
Oversee ACA mock audits and the preparation of institutions for ACA audits
Minimum Qualifications:

Must have a bachelor's degree and at least ten (10) years of correctional experience.
Must demonstrate proficiency and capability to make rational decisions, solve problems, organize their time well, and work efficiently.
Must be a self-starter, motivated, organized, and detail-oriented, with strong leadership skills, resolve, self-confidence, originality, and drive.
Must have good communication and writing skills and the ability to appropriately correspond with various agencies and clients.
Must have the ability to interact on a professional level with a variety of individuals, agencies, and clients.
Must be available for meetings, briefings, and consultations as requested.
Must be available to travel in and out of state as requested.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of full-time professional staff administrative experience or related work.
