Description:
Use methods and tools that produce, store, channel and distribute power. Responsible for the maintenance, operation and repair of power equipment, including generators, turbines, boilers, electrical systems, compressors and pumps. Help provide a reliable power source for consumers. May work for regulatory agencies, private agencies or utility companies.
Responsibilities:
Apply engineering principles and standards.
Perform technical reviews on three-line diagrams and one-line diagrams for high, medium, and low voltage systems including but not limited to switchgear and motor control centers.
Testing and performing technical reviews on current transformers, potential transformers, generators, large power transformers, wiring, etc.
Constructing, installing, maintaining, and testing medium voltage switchgear and low voltage motor control centers .
Perform technical reviews of existing and proposed relay settings.
Perform and review ARC Flash Analysis.
Troubleshoot technical problems.
Knowledge of power plant design and construction.
Competencies / Skills:
Ability to perform and review steady state flow analysis.
Ability to perform and review short circuit analysis.
Ability to test relays for transmission lines, generators, transformers, motors, switchgear.
Experience with NERC standards and documentation.
PE Certification for Electrical Engineering.
Demonstrate the ability to apply engineering principles.
Thorough understanding of procedures, programs, and standards.
Consistently demonstrates good engineering judgment.
Good leadership skills.
Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills.
Excellent math, project management, and Microsoft Office skills.
Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards.
Knowledge of National Electrical Safety Codes, National Electric Code, NFPA, etc.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 5 years of experience.
Compensation and Benefits:
Employment (W2) and Professional Services Contract (480) available.
Support during extended hours including weekends, as per business needs, in a flex commuter work setting with the flexibility to be onsite if it is needed.
