Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Mechanical Testing Technician (1st Shift) to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Mechanical Testing Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Performs tests as directed by customer specifications
At times operates under the supervision of a more senior test technician and/or a Department Manager
Gathers and records test data
Maintains a safe work environment
Constructs and maintains various test fixtures and other laboratory equipment to ensure proper working order with little supervision
Fatigue Testing - Perform Low and High Cycle fatigue testing under direction of senior technicians/department manager.
Fatigue Crack Growth- Perform testing in accordance with ASTM E647.
Fracture Mechanics Testing - Perform testing in accordance with ASTM E399, E561, and E1820.
Monotonic Testing- Perform tensile, compression in accordance with ASTM E8, E9, and E21.

Skills / Qualifications

Working knowledge of laboratory safety
HS diploma or GED certificate preferred. College or vocational school coursework welcomed
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a testing related field
Basic understanding of testing concepts
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus

lifting <50 lbs. often and >50 lbs. on occasion
