Fourth-generation, family-owned company is seeking a Foundry Engineer.
For over a century, this company has been casting parts for infrastructure and transportation and are leaders in this industry.
This facility uses the latest technology for designing, casting and finishing steel parts.
Because of this, they are staying in the forefront of the market and bringing the highest quality and value to their customers.
The Foundry Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing and improving foundry manufacturing methods and processes.
This position assists in maintaining and improving processes and systems that affect the quality of our cast steel products along with objectives that have a direct impact on cost and profit.
A key element of the CAD/Foundry Engineer's job is to provide support to the foundry production floor by trouble shooting problems and effecting timely solutions in order to maintain the continuity of the shop floor process flow.

Responsibilities:

Formulate rigging and gating designs using both calculations and simulation software.
Operate Solidworks 3D CAD and MAGMA simulation software.
Build 3D CAD files from customer 2D drawings and rough sketches.
Develop CAD for all rigging and gating designs from internal design sketches.
Design new tooling and communicate design to vendors.
Quote pattern equipment, outside services, and customer casting to support sales efforts.
Communicate design requirements to internal engineering /sales/operations employees.
Assist with sampling of new work and collecting documentation.
Document product data into ERP software.
Interface with Sales to evaluate casting designs and provide cost estimates and product quotes.
Interface with customers and vendors as needed as part of vendor assessment and improvement.
Work closely with purchasing and production planning as a key part of the operations teams on time delivery performance.

Requirements:

Three years of applicable foundry experience, or with CAD and manufacturing experience during college.
Basic Knowledge of machining and the willingness to learn
Basic knowledge of project planning and meeting schedules.
Good communication skills and relationship building with key suppliers
Skilled MS Office user.
Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects.
Experience using measurement tools; tape measure, steel rule, calipers, micrometers.
Experience operating simulation software is desired.
Experience interpreting and applying GD&T is desired.
Fixed or portable coordinate measurement machine (CMM) experience is desired.
Adept at systematic problem solving, collection and analysis of data, application of statistical methods, DOE, and other quality tools.
Manufacturing experience in the areas of molding, core room, melting, pouring and cleaning room operations would be a plus.
Must have solid communication skills, conducting themselves professionally.
Must have reliable attendance, willing to work flexible hours, & work well with others.
