Accounting Clerk III

Nature of Work

Work responsibilities include updating, reconciling and maintaining accounts receivable, accounts payable ledgers and cash balances, reviewing audit work papers created by the Comptroller, compiling financial information, reviewing and posting accounts payable, preparing payment documentation, and will serve as campus travel coordinator. An employee within this classification is expected to use independent judgment in making decisions within the context of professional edicts and departmental policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

Requires high school graduation or equivalent supplemented by an associate degree in accounting or a related field and two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping.

Preferred Qualifications

The ability to adapt to and quickly learn software programs, with working knowledge and experience with email, MS Word and Excel is highly preferred as well as the ability to provide excellent customer service in a busy service-oriented environment. In addition, the ability to work closely and effectively with various departments on campus, the state accounting department, as well as vendors is strongly preferred. The applicant should possess the ability to prioritize assigned workload, multitask and be detail oriented. The candidate should be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
