The Integrated Genetics Division is seeking a Cytogenetics Operations Assistant to join their Cytogenetics team in Raleigh/Durham, NC Assays performed in the Cytogenetics Department utilize a variety of scientific techniques, including specimen culturing, slide preparation, and chromosome analysis.
In this position you will work in a fast paced, customer focused, and
challenging environment, and will be a part of our overall mission at LabCorp:
"Improving Health, Improving Lives".

The work schedule for this position will be Tuesday-Saturday 8:
00am to 4:
30pm.

Responsibilities:

Tracking and receiving samples in lab's computer systems.
Media and Reagent preparation.
Assisting lab staff with organizing and filing quality control documentation.
Monitoring lists of samples pending testing and notifying appropriate testing staff.
Corresponding with other laboratory support groups to resolve client inquiries and concerns.
Reviewing test orders prior to specimen processing to ensure sample type is appropriate and all necessary information is included.
This includes identifying mis-orders and contacting clients to obtain information necessary to complete testing performed at CMBP.
Loading and managing case output on 81 slide loaders.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent (AA degree preferred).
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
Strong computer skills and working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Previous specimen handling preferred.
