ABOUT CHILDREN SERVICES OF ROXBURY:

Founded in 1972 Childrens Services of Roxburys (CSR) mission is to provide high quality services to economically disadvantaged children, youth, families, and individuals thereby promoting and strengthening family life and individual growth.
CSR serves approximately 6,000 families across Massachusetts, serving families through four key services areas; Early Education and Care, Behavioral Health Services, Youth and Family Services and Housing and Stabilization.
There are 22 programs operating under those four services areas.
CSR operates across in 4 cities, has a staff of 400 employees, and an operating budget of $28M.

Our Behavioral Health Department (BHD) offers a comprehensive array of high quality, culturally-sensitive mental health services that provide children and families with the services they need for success at home, in school, and in the community.

Position Summary:

Therapeutic Mentoring is a service provided by a qualified professional working in collaboration with a HUB (behavioral health provider) to support implementation of the therapeutic objectives of the treatment plans/care plans designed to address the youths mental health, behavioral, interpersonal skills and emotional needs.
A Therapeutic Mentor offers structured, one-on-one and strength-based support services.
Therapeutic Mentors work with youth for the purpose of addressing daily living, social, and communication needs.
Therapeutic Mentors engage youth in therapeutic interventions to address goals identified in treatment plans/care plans through; social, recreational, athletic, artistic, education, or daily-living skills.
Therapeutic Mentors maintain contact with caregivers and collaterals and document progress towards identified goals and attend all care plan meetings.
Therapeutic Mentors conduct telephone contact and face-to-face meetings with collaterals in order to remain updated on youth's progress towards treatment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

A Therapeutic Mentor offers structured, one on one, strength-based support services.
Therapeutic Mentors work with youth for the purpose of addressing daily living, social, and communication needs
Engage youth in therapeutic interventions to address goals identified in treatment plans through; social, recreational, athletic, artistic, education, or daily living skills
Works collaboratively with the HUB, (behavioral health provider) and caregiver as a team to ensure implementation of the goals and objectives identified in the treatment plan are being accomplished
Advocate for and access resources (including other CBHI services) to address the youths emotional and mental health needs
Participate in all care plan meetings for youth
Complete all necessary paperwork and data entry assignments in a timely manner

Required Skills, education & experience:

Must be 21 years old, have a valid driver license without restrictions and have reliable transportation
Requires an Associates or Bachelors degree in a human service field and one year experience working with children/adolescents or a high school diploma/GED and a minimum of two (2) years experience working with children/adolescents/transitional age youth
Use good judgment and maintain effective boundaries when interacting with all members of the staff and the community at large
Experience in navigating any of the child/family-serving systems and experience advocating for family members who are involved with behavioral health systems
Ability to reason effectively and interpret a variety of instructions, written and oral
Must demonstrate excellent written/verbal communication skills, be willing to learn about child/youth mental health issues
