DescriptionPosition Summary

Under the direction of the Stakeholder Relations Manager, the Stakeholder Relations Advisor identifies opportunities and implements solutions to support the continuous improvement of our stakeholder relations processes and tools with a particular focus on communications and social responsibility, supports issues management, collaborates and liaises with internal and external stakeholders to deliver, monitor and execute strategies, projects and initiatives.
Position Responsibilities

• Develops and drafts strategic communications plans, tactics and practices.
• Assists with developing and implementing strategic communications with internal and external constituents.
• Provides strategic communications input and perspective to help inform and guide decision-makers.
• Researches, writes, edits and oversees the development and production of various communication materials (i.e., PowerPoint presentations, corporate announcements, corporate profiles, annual reports, news releases, backgrounders, briefings, submissions, brochures, fact sheets, web content, newsletters, digital signage content.)
• Maintains the Methanex Geismar Facebook page.
• Maintains the Geismar Crisis Communications Plan and Stakeholder Register.
• Supports the Information Officer function in an emergency or crisis.
• Supports Turnaround and major project communications to maintain a continued focus on Responsible Care.
• Manages the Social Responsibility Investment Program to align with corporate standards and approaches, including a cross-departmental employee Social Responsibility Committee.
• Manages the Methanex Scholarship Program for Ascension Parish students pursuing post-secondary education.
• Chairs the Methanex GIVES campaign and committee.
• Receives and tracks sponsorship and community investment request and prepares correspondence to requesting individuals or entities.
• Supports developing standard key messages/talking points created for corporate issues and opportunities.
• Provides media relations input, social media and news release writing and media monitoring/issues tracking.
• Maintains the Stakeholder Relations network drives, including updates and data entry for the community investment tracking and stakeholder listing.
• Maintains the Stakeholder Relations department SharePoint page and the Geismar SharePoint main page.
• Coordinates and organizes meetings, internal or external stakeholder special events and community engagement initiatives.
• Tracks training for Stakeholder Relations department ensuring compliance and up to date completion.
• Seeks out impactful community engagement opportunities for the company.
• Manages company community volunteer projects and employee volunteers.
• Represents the company well to outside stakeholders and present a professional image.
• Responds to routine inquiries related to the department's operation.
• Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Undertakes all aspects of the role in alignment with Methanex's core values.
• Conducts all business in a manner which supports the Responsible Care® ethic and principles.
• Contributes to the organizational vision of Global Methanol Leadership and as a team member demonstrates the core values of integrity, trust, respect and professionalism.

• Networks with other Methanex sites to the mutual benefit of all sites.
• Responsible for ensuring awareness of all controlled documents relating to this position as per Document Awareness Report from Document Management Database.
• Contributes to the 'operational excellence' for Methanex USA as an effective member of the Corporate Resources department.
Position Qualifications

• Completion of a post-secondary degree in communications, public relations, or other relevant field (journalism, stakeholder or community relations) preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) or more years of relevant cumulative experience in public affairs, social responsibility, communications, or related fields.
• Knowledge of the chemical industry/manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience in creating and leading effective corporate communications plans.
• Strong public relations skills to interface with internal and external customers and redirect general inquiries to the most appropriate person.
• Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal, and public speaking skills and the ability to engage with diverse audiences.
• Advanced time-management, planning and organizational skills.
• Flexibility and willingness to work in a team environment, assisting in other areas when workload permits.
• Ability to maintain utmost confidentiality.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, social media platforms and graphic design platforms.
• Experience in event planning is an asset.
