Job Summary:

The Assistant Dietary Services Director assists withoversight in designated dining areas and service of resident meals daily tomake sure menus are followed appropriately with accommodation and attention tospecial diets. It is mandatory as an Assistant Dietary Services Director tomake sure appropriate portion sizes are served, all temperatures aredocumented, residents' food preferences are honored and hospitality needs aremet. As an Assistant Dietary Director, it is your duty to ensure prep workneeded is completed in a timely manner, and is accurately executed.

The role of the Assistant Dietary Services Directorwill require you to educate dietary aides as needed and when appropriate onpolicy & procedure, sanitation, food storage, and proper handling of fooditems. When necessary the Assistant Dietary Director will participate inorientation and training for dietary aids. And this role is responsible forpromoting the professional growth and development of all staff.

Common Responsibilities:
• Point of contact for employee needs &staffing during scheduled shifts.
• Communicate appropriately to management onstatus of dining areas & staffing.
• Ensure that dining areas are appropriatelycleaned, stocked, and in working order.
• Make sure all food items are labeled, dated,and discarded according to policy.
• Perform various quality assurance checksthroughout shift to ensure resident meals are being served according to dietaryneeds and health regulations.
• Educate dietary aids when necessary onpolicy and procedure. Offer assistance when needed.
• Ensure that all areas are cleaned andsanitized, floors swept and mopped, and that all department doors are lockedand secured at closing.
• Conducts in-services for the HospitalityServices department, as assigned by the Dietary Director
• Work with interdisciplinary team to reviewdining programs and services to enhance the dining experience for the residents.
• Oversee/Assist the ordering of all food andsupplies for the dietary department
• Maintain cost controls and departmental budgets
• Communicate challenges and opportunities withthe Executive Director and other members of management as needed
• Other duties as assigned to meet the residentsneeds and expectations for an exceptional resident experience

Requirements

Ideal Experiences Include:
• 2+ years' experience in the dietary andsupervision roles
• Medical/healthcare experience a plus
• Must be willing to continue educationrequirements when needed
• Person-centered, elder-directed, qualityfocused

• Be able to take initiative

• Strong communication and team buildingskills

• Must be professional when working withresidents and other employees
