* The physical work location for this role is located in Bloomfield, CT 06002. The Gate/Temperature Checker role requires you have reliable transportation to and from the physical work site. THIS IS NOT REMOTE. You must be able to report to the Bloomfield, CT location to be considered for this position. Pay will start at $20/hr*

As part of the Ryder team, the Gate Checker will handle various tasks supporting Ryders Transportation Management business vertical. The ideal candidate for this entry-level position would be a detail-oriented problem solver that is able to learn quickly in a fast-paced work environment. We are seeking reliable, self-motivated, dedicated and passionate individuals who can work within the guidelines and processes put in place by Ryders leadership team while being flexible and open to change.

Essential Functions

Complete Yard Checks according to required schedule, this includes recording trailer numbers and current position in a Yard Check Document
Data Entry pertaining to Trailers such as Date of Trailer Arrival and Fuel Status of Trailers
Verifying, and Recording Trailer Temperatures and Reporting any Non Standard Findings

Additional Responsibilities

Performs other duties as assigned.

Strong verbal and written communication skills
Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrates time management and priority setting skills
Ability to adjust priorities
Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices

Qualifications

H.S. diploma/GED required and 1-3 years experience in logistics, transportation, warehouse or related field
Three (3) years or more experience in logistics, transportation, warehouse or related field required
Three (3) years or more experience in the trucking Industry preferred
