Purpose of the Position: The job of the School Psychologist is done for the purpose/s of measuring and interpreting the intellectual, adaptive, academic, social and emotional development of children; interpreting results of psychological studies; interpreting and applying state and federal codes; and developing strategies and interventions to address the special education needs of eligible students.

Job Group Classification: Foundations

Overtime Status: Exempt

Salary Range: $80,000- $85,000 (based on years of experience, school experience, bilingual, etc.)

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and appropriate agencies in the planning of educational and therapeutic programs; agency personnel may include private physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, probation officers, mental health professionals, and others as appropriate.
Recommend appropriate educational and psychological remediation through the use of psychological tests.
Interpret and analyze the assessment results with regard to the intellectual, academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of pupils, and the implications of results for the instructional program.
Prepare written assessment reports for each student evaluated.
Participate in IEP teams and in IEP reviews.
Conduct required re-evaluations on Special Education students.
Participate in the development of school services promoting positive mental health and effective environments for learning.
Initiate referrals to Mental Health Services when needed.
Assist in the evaluation of the effectiveness of specific phases of educational programs.
Serve as a resource person in such areas as guidance, curriculum, child development, and tests and measurements.
Collaboration in master schedule planning for the special education program
Perform other related duties as may be assigned

Minimum Skills or Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in related field
Masters degree
Arizona Credential authorizing the performance of psychological services
Administrative Services Credential (Preferred)
ADE School Psychologist Certification
Graduate degree from NASP-Approved School
Valid IVP Fingerprint Card

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes
Requires frequent reaching, handling, sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, running, carrying, and lifting 50 or more lbs.
Must be able to see and hear within normal range with or without correction.
The noise intensity level is moderate to high
