The WTA is a partnership between Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, Fulton Hogan and WSP.
Commenced 1 July 2023, WTA is responsible for managing the maintenance and operations programme for the state highways and roading networks of the Greater Wellington Region, and for delivering high service standards to the people and roading network of the region.Join us as a Leading Hand in an exciting Alliance environmentAs a Leading Hand, you will be completing labouring tasks within the Maintenance space that help deliver work for our customers safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standard.
You may need to operate more complex machinery, which may require a high level of skill.
You may also be required to step into the Foreman's role when needed.The OpportunityAs the Leading Hand, you will lead multiple operational crews and perform some hands on work.
You will be responsible for coaching and being a role model to a team, directing them to get the job done.Other responsibilities include:
Manage the plant and materials associated with inhouse crews.
A focus on individual, crew and road user safety is imperative.
Follow general instructions as set by your Foreman or Supervisor You'll also contribute in any other duties or projects that are reasonably requested Take part in prestart meetings and risk planning before starting work Put in the effort to complete labouring activities to the best of your ability as directed by your foreman/supervisor, these will be things like:
Assist Foreman/Supervisor with daily workflow Checks machinery and equipment is in good working order Assist with training less skilled staff on the correct operations of machinery and equipment Operate machinery Lifting and shifting materials Operating handheld equipment Keeping the workplace clean and tidy Any other general tasks given by your Foreman or SupervisorAbout you Current class licenses minimum of class 2 & W,T,R endorsements Experience and understanding of traffic management requirements on sites Preferred STMS level First aid certificate Excellent organisation and communication skills Reliable and a cando attitude Problem solver who thinks ahead about the next step Team player Wants to learn and build skillsCreating, Connecting and caring for the communityOur people regularly donate their time to local causes and initiatives, while at a regional and national level we provide financial support, skills and resources to a wide range of organisations that are strengthening our communities.
