Project Controls Specialist

We are currently seeking a qualified Project Controls Specialist to join our Mining and Infrastructure team, based out of Toronto, ON. The Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for cost control, planning and scheduling for engineering and/or construction projects in the mining and infrastructure markets and have the opportunity to work on a variety of mining, industrial and infrastructure projects. Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Provides technical guidance, training, auditing, and staffing support for cost, planning and scheduling on projects.
2. Reviews and provides input into technical standards, guidelines, and procedures for developing, maintaining and monitoring project schedules and cost systems.
3. Interfaces with designated management and client counterparts for specific costing, planning and scheduling tasks.
4. Set project controls guidelines and responsibilities within a Project Execution Plan, as well as implements tools and systems to effectively manage, control, and report on earned value management, cashflow, cost, revenue, forecasting and schedule for projects.
5. Set up schedules (including schedule preparation plan and basis) and proposal schedules plus all associated costing controls and systems.
6. Supports business development with proposal efforts and provides input to proposals and client presentations.
7. Audits projects to ensure the quality of cost, planning and scheduling functions.
8. Develops and implements cost, planning and scheduling training programs.
9. Conducts personnel performance reviews when delegated.
10. Participates in interviews for potential candidates and makes recommendations for employment decisions.
11. Participates in developing and presenting training classes on designated subjects and on-the-job training for specific processes and practices.

Qualifications

1. 10 to 15 years of experience in EPC/EPCM projects in cost, planning and scheduling and/or project controls management.
2. College and/or University Degree in a related field.
3. Experienced with 'Earned Value' Management and Project Management Software.
4. Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Applications & Visio.
5. Ability to produce, read and manipulate schedules and scheduling curves/reports.
6. Applied knowledge of cost engineering/cost controls. Supervision of assigned personnel is an asset.
7. Experience in all phases of project lifecycle (proposal, initiation, execution, closeout)
8. Home Office and Site experience.
9. Must understand control requirements for Studies through EPCM Project Controls Management.
10. Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
11. Self motivated with a willingness to take on increasing responsibility.
