Staff Accountant

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller the Staff Accountant will work collaboratively with a team driven by quality work, strong service, and attention to detail to support the business in achieving strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing day-to-day accounting operations, including bank and credit card reconciliations, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of balance sheet accounts.
• Maintaining the fixed asset continuity schedule and preparing general ledger entries.
• Assisting in the preparation of monthly financial statements.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather necessary financial information to support decision-making processes.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting regulations and internal policies.
• Supporting external audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
• Participating in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Monthly GST/HST reconciliations, entries, and payments.

As the ideal candidate for this position, you will have a business degree or diploma along with 5+ years of experience working as a bookkeeper or general accountant in a growing business.
You possess strong communication, time management, and organizational skills, and have a humble, curious, service-driven, and positive approach.
Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills and exposure to an ERP implementation or migration will be advantageous.
Effective collaboration will be vital as you will coordinate seamlessly with various teams within the organization.
