VMware Administrator

Responsibilities:

• Adhering to SLAs
• Performing root cause analysis
• Troubleshooting technical issues
• Defining processes and ensuring adherence to them
• Overseeing and ensuring successful completion of installation, configuration, and migration
• Ensuring maximum uptime as per SLA
• Understanding multi-geo support environments
• Building/maintaining a test environment
• Improving and maintaining customer and employee satisfaction
• Suggesting new technologies and design changes
• Monitoring and maintaining SLA requirements by team members
• Planning backup/restoration strategy for 24x7 operation support
• Suggesting patches/upgrades to maintain security levels
• Testing/auditing processes as required
• Identifying skill gaps and planning training/knowledge updates

Technical Requirements - Primary

• VMWare Infrastructure Administration and management
• Installation, provisioning, and troubleshooting of VMware Virtual Infrastructure and Physical Servers
• Installation, upgradation, and configuration of VMware vSphere Platform 6.x, 7.x ESXi Host, vCenter Server
• Deployment and provisioning of Windows, Linux VMs from templates, ISOs, and preconfigured appliances
• Installing security patches, functional patches, and version upgrades
• Performance tuning of ESX server
• Documenting support processes
• Maintaining compliance with Corporate Security Policies
• Restoration of data
• Snapshot, HA, DRS & Cloning background processes
• vCenter and ESXi Security hardening as per VMware standards
• ESXi host profile creation and implementation
• Health Check for VMs and ESX hosts using vRealize Suite
• Capacity Planning for virtual environment
• Expanding VM resources like CPU & RAM, and adding/expanding VMDKs
• Updating manager through OS upgrades
• Managing License Compliance for vCenter, ESXi, vROPs, VRA
• Configuration of Monitoring tool vRealize Operations
• Hands-on experience of Server build Automation
• Knowledge of DR Tools like SRM and Veritas
• Managing HP/Dell hardware and configuring Networking and storage via HP Tools
• Knowledge and Hands-on experience of HP OneView and Virtual Connect
