Incumbent Priest for the Parish of St. Saviour’s Penticton Diocese of Kootenay

The Bishop of the Diocese of Kootenay is seeking applications for the position of Incumbent Priest for the Parish of St. Saviour's, Penticton, on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan Nation.

This is a full-time, permanent position.

Some qualities the parish is seeking in their next priest are:

• An adaptable and creative team leader to work with the two deacons and the lay leaders, equipping lay people and lay leaders for a changing church
• Someone who is able to help us to build partnerships with the ecumenical community and the city.
• A worship leader and spiritual leader, teacher, and administrator who will support the growth we see happening in our midst
• Someone to help us with our call to mission

The Anglican Diocese of Kootenay is in a time of transition, renewing its commitment to Thriving Communities. As a diocese, we have dedicated resources to helping community-based ministries (including camps, congregations, chaplaincies, ecumenical shared ministries, parishes, partnerships, worshiping communities, and new witnessing communities) to enter into processes of self-reflection, transformation, and renewal.

One of the first tasks for the people of St. Saviour's and their next incumbent will be to engage with the Director of Missional Renewal in using these tools to build a strong sense of identity, and how God is calling them to respond in mission for others. The St. Saviour's community gathers for worship in a historic stone building in the downtown core. The congregation operates a long-standing food ministry. It will be the role of the next priest to assist the congregation in strengthen partnerships in the community to bolster their response to inner-city needs, and in the region, as a part of the changing dynamics amongst mainline congregations in the South Okanagan region.

Penticton is a beautiful old and growing town on the south end of Lake Okanagan, surrounded by four season recreational opportunities.
