We are currently hiring a Junior Accountant to join our Accounting and Finance team.
Reporting to the Controller, the Junior Accountant is part of the team responsible for the accounting and analysis for the Running Room Group of Companies including balance sheet accounts, corporate and store income statements, and full cycle accounting.

The Junior Accountant must be proficient at problem solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Prepare and analyze general ledger accounts including balance sheet, income statements, and account reconciliations.
Ensure compliance with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Involved in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy, proper documentation, and compliance with internal controls.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies or variances as necessary.
Assist with the year-end preparation of financial statements and working papers for external accountants.
Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, enhance internal controls, and optimize efficiency.
Correspond with operational personnel to resolve issues as necessary.
Other related duties as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

2+ years of experience in an accounting role; retail industry experience considered an asset.
University degree in Business/Accounting.
Proficient at problem solving and attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to work evenings or weekends as required by deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office including Excel and Word.
Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics GP or other accounting software is an asset.
