General Paraprofessional
Sheridan County School District is looking for a positive, professional, and motivated Paraprofessional to join the High School team. This positions is eligible for 10 paid sick leave days and 2 paid personal days. Time off matches the school calendar including Christmas break, spring break and summers off. This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision and supplemental insurance plans and will contribute to the Wyoming Retirment Employee Pension Plan.
STARTING WAGE: $14.47-$17.47 depending on experience ($1.00 increase for BA/BS).
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Good command of the English language.
• Ability to work well with students and staff.
• Working knowledge and competence in reading, math, English, science, social studies and related academic subjects.
• Typing and computer skills preferred.
• Wyoming Teaching or Substitute Teacher Certification is preferred but not required, as this position could provide support in classrooms as a substitute teacher as needed.
REPORTS TO: Building principal and/or classroom teacher
JOB GOAL: To assist the teaching staff in supporting the learning programs for students in their designated educational environment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
• Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
• Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
• Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
• Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, and field trips.
• Assists with such large group activities as intervention and/or remediation.
• Assists students with executive functioning skills and supervises testing and make-up work, as assigned by the teacher.
• Act as a substitute teacher as needed and determined by office personnel and/or the principal.
• Support staff during lunch and assist with the lunch terminal as needed.
• Support staff during transitional times during the day as well as before and after school.
• Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information concerning school matters.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employment relationship with the District is at will and of indefinite duration. Salary and fringe benefits to be set by the Board of Trustees.

Placement on any of the Classified (Hourly) Wage Schedules for all new employees will be based solely on an individual's years of job-related experience:
• School district experience (full time) = One (1) year of job-related experience equals one (1) step on the wage schedule, up to step seven (7)
• School district experience (substitute) & non-school district experience = three (3) years of job-related experience equals one (1) step on the wage schedule, up to step seven (7)
• placement beyond step seven (7) requires approval from the Superintendent
Upon board approval, eligible staff move one (1) step on the wage schedule annually, except in those years when the Board of Trustees sets a wage freeze due to budget constraints. Idividuals that start in their position after the start of second semester will not be eligible for a step increase the following school year. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
