The Nelson research group (
/research.fredhutch.org/peternelson/en.html) at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center has an opening for a Lab Aide interested in prostate cancer research and biomarker development who can perform routine work in a research laboratory.
This is a part-time position (15-20 hours per week).
Responsibilities

Responsibilities
- Prepare media and reagents, such as stock solutions;
- Rinse and prepare glassware for cleaning;
- Maintain clean and orderly laboratory area;
- Clean and maintain lab equipment;
- Check and replenish supplies;
- Assist with experiments and set-up;
- Perform clerical duties as required;
- Cell culture and maintenance of laboratory cell lines and organoids;
- Nucleic acid extraction and purification;
- Processing biospecimens for immunohistochemistry and related assays;
- Assisting with assays of cancer therapeutics.
- High school diploma
- University/College degree in a scientific discipline such as biology, biochemistry, physics, engineering or related field.
- Familiarity with cell/tissue culture methods and techniques;
- Familiarity with DNA and RNA extractions.
- Experience in a biomedical research laboratory.
- Experience with standard molecular biology techniques including cell culture, nucleic acid purification, RT-PCR, gel electrophoresis, immunohistochemistry, protein purification, immunoblotting.
- Training in biostatistics is an asset.
